Recent research has highlighted the role that parents play in childhood, bringing attention to activities that foster children&#8217;s cognition, language skills, and cultural capital, and how these activities in turn increase children&#8217;s educational performance. This dissertation examines the role of parenting in the intergeneration transmission of education in childhood and adolescence. The dissertation addresses each step of the causal chain from parents&#8217; education via educational parenting practices to children&#8217;s educational performance.
