If you would like to support an international colleague and enhance your own career:<\/p>\n
International Staff Mobility (ISM) is currently looking for mentors among the University’s employees who are willing to invest a few hours a month to make a significant difference to a international researcher or PhD, while developing their own leadership and guidance skills.<\/p>\n
ISM holds a kick-off event for mentoring twice a year. The next event takes place on Monday 26 August from 3pm to 5:30pm, where the mentoring program kicks off with a class by professor of organization and management theory Hildebrandt, from Aarhus University. Steen Hildebrandt has written books on, amongst other things, mentoring, and has been involved in a successful mentoring relationships at Aarhus University and Aarhus School of Business.<\/p>\n
The class will equip you to be part of a mentoring program. You will have the opportunity to network with other mentors. The class is geared towards those who have made up their mind about becoming a mentor, and those who are considering it, and would like to know more. <\/p>\n
As a mentor you will simultaneously strengthen your career and support a foreign colleague. At the same time you help a lonesome foreigner meet Denmark, you also help UCPH meet it’s objective to attract and retain highly qualified foreign experts. And for you, all this means, you can add new skills to your resume as you are offered courses and gain practical experience in areas such as coaching.<\/p>\n
Mentoring is a widespread method of career development in Denmark and internationally. Companies and institutions such as Columbia University and Danfoss use mentoring as part of career development.<\/p>\n
