","use_post_excerpt":false},{"acf_fc_layout":"Content","content":"<p>The Danish People\u2019s Party (DPP) has come under fire for a full-page ad that appears in national Danish newspapers today Thursday. The ad names 685 people who are about to be granted Danish citizenship, and the town or city they live in, but the headline states ominously that \u2019one person on the list is a threat to Denmark\u2019s security \u2013 and is about to become a Dane\u2019, reports our Danish media partner Seven59.dk.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Minister Morten B\u00f8dskov said it was insulting that the ad casts suspicion on the 684 who\u2019ve done nothing wrong. <\/p>\n<p>“If my name was on the list I wouldn\u2019t like to be involved in an ad promoting the DPP. We\u2019re talking about people who\u2019ve been in this country for years and are now being rewarded with citizenship. Why should they be pilloried in this manner?”<\/p>\n<h2>Published in tabloids, Jyllands-Posten<\/h2>\n<p>The Liberals policy spokesperson, Ellen Trane N\u00f8rby, also distanced herself from the ad, claiming \u2019it\u2019s a method that we would never employ\u2019, but DPP leader Kristian Thulesen Dahl refuted charges that he was trying to stigmatise anybody.<\/p>\n<p>“The names of new citizens are freely accessible on Parliament\u2019s website but it\u2019s also a well-known fact that Danish Intelligence (PET) has voiced objections against one of the persons on the list. If we know he\u2019s a threat to national security why should we keep quiet?” he asked.<\/p>\n<p>Tabloid daily Ekstra Bladet and Jyllands-Posten have published the controversial ad today but it was rejected by Berlingske, Politiken, and MetroXpress, provoking an angry response from Mr Thulesen Dahl who said he had no respect for any newspaper that tries to suppress the truth.<\/p>\n<h2>Tarring all with the same brush<\/h2>\n<p>Politiken editor Bo Lidegaard said he had more respect for the 684 who are looking forward to becoming citizens. \u201cA lot of information is available to the public but publishing an ad with hundreds of names and pinpointing one of them as guilty is tarring then all with the same brush,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Article in <a href=\"http:\/\/politiken.dk\/politik\/ECE1982585\/df-beskyldes-for-at-mistaenkeliggoere-684-nye-statsborgere-i-annonce\/%0D%0A\" target=\"_blank\">in Politiken (in Danish):<\/a><\/p>\n<p>universitypost@adm.ku.dk<\/p>\n<p><em>Like us on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/UniversityPost\" target=\"_blank\"> Facebook <\/a> for features, guides and tips on upcoming events.
