Danish rival Aarhus is still ahead, gaining to 116th","use_post_excerpt":false},{"acf_fc_layout":"Content","content":"<p>Copenhagen is enjoying a good university rankings season: The Times Higher Education World University Ranking (WUR) has put it at 130, gaining five spots over last year. It is the second year in a row that Copenhagen moves up since a controversial methodology change in the Times ranking shuffled the list in 2010. <\/p>\n<p>The Times’ WUR ranking is one of four rankings that the University of Copenhagen benchmarks itself on, the others being QS, the Shanghai rank and the Leiden. A few weeks ago Copenhagen scored 51st in the world <a href=\"node\/16212\">on the QS ranking.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The latest WUR, whose methodology tends to favour Anglo-American research-intensive institutions has California Institute of Technology on its world number one spot for the second year running. Harvard is pushed into fourth place by Oxford and Stanford, which share 2nd place. First non-Anglo-American university is ETH Z\u00fcrich in 12th place. 76 of the top 200 are US institutions. <\/p>\n<p>See the rankings: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timeshighereducation.co.uk\/world-university-rankings\/2012-13\/world-ranking\" target=\"_blank\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Scores well on international outlook<\/h2>\n<p>Three of Denmark\u2019s institutions moved up the rankings. Aarhus gained nine places to 116th, University of Copenhagen gained five to 130, while the Technical University of Denmark DTU jumped from 178 to 149.<\/p>\n<p>Sweden’s top universities are way ahead of Denmark in this ranking: Its number one institution, Karolinska Institute is at 42 in the table, Lund is at 82, while Uppsala is at 106.
