The Board does not normally intervene in day-to-day decisions around the university. But if a particularly troublesome case arises, it may take action.<\/p>\n
The 11-member Board at the University of Copenhagen consists of six external (appointed) members and five internal (elected) members. As a group they should have experience and knowledge of research, research-based education, as well as knowledge dissemination and exchange. In the Board there are both people from the business world, academic staff, and students.<\/p>\n
The internal members consist of one representative for technical and administrative personnel (abbreviated in Danish to \u2018TAP\u2019), two representatives for scientific staff (abbreviated in Danish to \u2018VIP\u2019), and two student representatives.<\/p>\n
The TAP and VIP representatives are elected for a four-year term and may be re-elected once. The student representatives are elected for a two-year term, with one of the student representatives up for election every year.<\/p>\n

No remuneration is paid to members elected by students and staff. Employee representatives may however get a personal salary supplement<\/strong> if the university deems it appropriate and the board work is not carried out during ordinary working hours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\nWho is running for a board seat?<\/h3>\n
Students can vote on different lists. In recent years the most prominent have been: The Student Council, Free Forum and Conservative Students.<\/p>\n
The new student-elected member of the University Board will be announced along with the rest of the results of the university elections. The candidates who are elected will begin their work on the Board at the beginning of the following year.

There are elections for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/en\/the-study-boards-what-you-need-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Study Boards<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/en\/academic-councils-what-you-need-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Academic Council<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/en\/the-board-of-the-university-what-you-need-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Board of the University<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/en\/the-phd-committees-what-you-need-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PhD committees<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>It is the Board that appoints the rector and decides what he or she should do with their working day. The Board has also drafted what is known as <a href=\"https:\/\/bestyrelse.ku.dk\/rektorinstruks\/\">rector instructions<\/a>, which the rector must comply with in his or her daily activities.<\/p>\n<p>The Board does not normally intervene in day-to-day decisions around the university. But if a particularly troublesome case arises, it may take action.<\/p>\n<h3>Who is on the Board?<\/h3>\n<p>The 11-member Board at the University of Copenhagen consists of six external (appointed) members and five internal (elected) members. As a group they should have experience and knowledge of research, research-based education, as well as knowledge dissemination and exchange. In the Board there are both people from the business world, academic staff, and students.<\/p>\n<p>The internal members consist of one representative for technical and administrative personnel (abbreviated in Danish to \u2018TAP\u2019), two representatives for scientific staff (abbreviated in Danish to \u2018VIP\u2019), and two student representatives.<\/p>\n<p>The TAP and VIP representatives are elected for a four-year term and may be re-elected once. The student representatives are elected for a two-year term, with one of the student representatives up for election every year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"factbox\">\n<p class=\"factbox-header feature-color\">Did you know that\u2026<\/p>\n<p>… the external members of the Board get a solid remuneration for their work. .<\/p>\n<p>No remuneration is paid to members elected by students and staff. Employee representatives may however get a <strong>personal salary supplement<\/strong> if the university deems it appropriate and the board work is not carried out during ordinary working hours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Who is running for a board seat?<\/h3>\n<p>Students can vote on different lists. In recent years the most prominent have been: The Student Council, Free Forum and Conservative Students.<\/p>\n<p>The new student-elected member of the University Board will be announced along with the rest of the results of the university elections.
