You can read the entire strategy on the <a href=\"https:\/\/om.ku.dk\/strategi-2030\/\">intranet KUnet here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018Creating benefit for more people\u2019<\/em> is the name of the new strategy, which consists of three fundamental strategic ambitions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>UCPH is to be the best place for the best ideas<\/li>\n<li>UCPH is to be an innovative and solution-oriented university<\/li>\n<li>UCPH is to be a life-long learning partner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbOur excellent research and talented students will contribute even more to society, addressing local and global challenges \u200band creating new jobs. That is the essence of the strategy,\u00ab Rector Henrik C. Wegener says in a <a href=\"https:\/\/kunet.ku.dk\/newsroom\/news\/Pages\/With-the-new-strategy-UCPH-will-open-up-more-to-the-outside-world.aspx\">news item on KUnet.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the consultation phase, several organizations have criticised the fact that sustainability is not named as an independent, strategic ambition. This includes the Green Youth Movement, which on several occasions has demonstrated in front of Board meetings to show its dissatisfaction.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>At UCPH, we must be able to pursue the best ideas as soon as they arise \u2013 even if others don\u2019t believe in them<\/p>\n<p class=\"quotee\">Henrik C. Wegener, Rector<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier this year, Bo Fritzb\u00f8ger, Associate Professor at the Saxo Institute, and Jakob Fritzb\u00f8ger Christensen, project manager at the Sustainability Science Centre, wrote an opinion piece [in Danish] entitled \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/baeredygtighed-boer-vaere-en-strategisk-ambition-for-ku\/\">Sustainability should be a strategic ambition for UCPH<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbIn our view, however, sustainability cannot be reduced to a means [to achieve other objectives, ed.]. The sustainable development of society is the most important objective of our time. And if it is not constantly in explicit focus, we fall into business as usual and short-term profit maximization,\u00ab they opined against the former draft, in which sustainability stood to cut across all three objectives.<\/p>\n<p>This is also how sustainability ended up in the final strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Sustainability, including economic, social and environmental sustainability, is so crucial to the progress of society and that of the University that it is a key component in the realization of all three ambitions,\u00ab it states in the final strategy.<\/p>\n<h3>Three ambitions<\/h3>\n<p>In the final text, the three strategic ambitions are presented in video clips by the UCPH rector, Henrik C. Wegener, Prorector for Education, Kristian Cedervall Lauta, and Prorector for Research, David Dreyer Nielsen.<\/p>\n<p>The three UCPH managers are accompanied by people from the private sector: Jesper Nerlov, Chief Technology Officer, Tops\u00f8e, Henrik Kai Hansen, CEO, Lehnsgaard Rapsolie and Birgitte Brix Bendtsen, Chief People Officer, Better Energy.<\/p>\n<p>The first ambition states that there should be space at UCPH for \u00bbwild ideas, unconventional experiments, and innovative collaborations that are challenged and tested by peers according to scientific standards.\u00ab<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbAt UCPH, we must be able to pursue the best ideas as soon as they arise \u2013 even if others don\u2019t believe in them. Good research requires time, lots of time. And at UCPH we need to create a framework that allows people to concentrate and immerse themselves in their research \u2013 including research that crosses disciplinary boundaries,\u00ab Henrik C. Wegener says.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Researchers are best in terms of channelling knowledge out from the universities<\/p>\n<p class=\"quotee\">David Dreyer Lassen, Prorector for Research<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>UCPH will also contribute to innovation \u00bbthat develops new solutions that respond to societal challenges and create new jobs,\u00ab according to the strategy&#8217;s second ambition.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbWhen we produce good results, we should be better at reaching outside the university. Researchers are best in terms of channeling knowledge out from the universities,\u00ab says David Dreyer Lassen.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, UCPH needs to \u00bbmeet society&#8217;s increasing need for skills development and being a lifelong learning partner for the individual,\u00ab says Prorector for Education Kristian Cedervall Lauta and adds:<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbIt is not enough to think of education as a kind of driving license for a long working life. You can read the entire strategy on the <a href=\"https:\/\/om.ku.dk\/strategi-2030\/\">intranet KUnet here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018Creating benefit for more people\u2019<\/em> is the name of the new strategy, which consists of three fundamental strategic ambitions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>UCPH is to be the best place for the best ideas<\/li>\n<li>UCPH is to be an innovative and solution-oriented university<\/li>\n<li>UCPH is to be a life-long learning partner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbOur excellent research and talented students will contribute even more to society, addressing local and global challenges \u200band creating new jobs. That is the essence of the strategy,\u00ab Rector Henrik C. Wegener says in a <a href=\"https:\/\/kunet.ku.dk\/newsroom\/news\/Pages\/With-the-new-strategy-UCPH-will-open-up-more-to-the-outside-world.aspx\">news item on KUnet.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the consultation phase, several organizations have criticised the fact that sustainability is not named as an independent, strategic ambition. This includes the Green Youth Movement, which on several occasions has demonstrated in front of Board meetings to show its dissatisfaction.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>At UCPH, we must be able to pursue the best ideas as soon as they arise \u2013 even if others don\u2019t believe in them<\/p>\n<p class=\"quotee\">Henrik C. Wegener, Rector<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier this year, Bo Fritzb\u00f8ger, Associate Professor at the Saxo Institute, and Jakob Fritzb\u00f8ger Christensen, project manager at the Sustainability Science Centre, wrote an opinion piece [in Danish] entitled \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/baeredygtighed-boer-vaere-en-strategisk-ambition-for-ku\/\">Sustainability should be a strategic ambition for UCPH<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbIn our view, however, sustainability cannot be reduced to a means [to achieve other objectives, ed.]. The sustainable development of society is the most important objective of our time. And if it is not constantly in explicit focus, we fall into business as usual and short-term profit maximization,\u00ab they opined against the former draft, in which sustainability stood to cut across all three objectives.<\/p>\n<p>This is also how sustainability ended up in the final strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Sustainability, including economic, social and environmental sustainability, is so crucial to the progress of society and that of the University that it is a key component in the realization of all three ambitions,\u00ab it states in the final strategy.<\/p>\n<h3>Three ambitions<\/h3>\n<p>In the final text, the three strategic ambitions are presented in video clips by the UCPH rector, Henrik C. Wegener, Prorector for Education, Kristian Cedervall Lauta, and Prorector for Research, David Dreyer Nielsen.<\/p>\n<p>The three UCPH managers are accompanied by people from the private sector: Jesper Nerlov, Chief Technology Officer, Tops\u00f8e, Henrik Kai Hansen, CEO, Lehnsgaard Rapsolie and Birgitte Brix Bendtsen, Chief People Officer, Better Energy.<\/p>\n<p>The first ambition states that there should be space at UCPH for \u00bbwild ideas, unconventional experiments, and innovative collaborations that are challenged and tested by peers according to scientific standards.\u00ab<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbAt UCPH, we must be able to pursue the best ideas as soon as they arise \u2013 even if others don\u2019t believe in them. Good research requires time, lots of time. And at UCPH we need to create a framework that allows people to concentrate and immerse themselves in their research \u2013 including research that crosses disciplinary boundaries,\u00ab Henrik C. Wegener says.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Researchers are best in terms of channelling knowledge out from the universities<\/p>\n<p class=\"quotee\">David Dreyer Lassen, Prorector for Research<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>UCPH will also contribute to innovation \u00bbthat develops new solutions that respond to societal challenges and create new jobs,\u00ab according to the strategy&#8217;s second ambition.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbWhen we produce good results, we should be better at reaching outside the university. Researchers are best in terms of channeling knowledge out from the universities,\u00ab says David Dreyer Lassen.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, UCPH needs to \u00bbmeet society&#8217;s increasing need for skills development and being a lifelong learning partner for the individual,\u00ab says Prorector for Education Kristian Cedervall Lauta and adds:<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbIt is not enough to think of education as a kind of driving license for a long working life.
