The Wageningen Student Choir and Orchestra will not be dressing up in clogs and tulips when they concert in Copenhagen this week. Though their aim is to give the audience a glimpse of life in the Netherlands, it will be a musical, rather than a cultural, peep show. <\/p>\n
The student musicians and their two conductors are set to play a free concert at the Hellig Kors Church in N\u00f8rrebro Friday August 24. The Copenhagen concert will be the first stop on their Scandinavian tour. <\/p>\n
\u00bbNo, we won\u2019t be dressing up in clogs. We will focus on our musical ancestry instead. For those interested we will \u2013 however \u2013 be serving Dutch cookies in the break. And we\u2019re more than happy to share experiences if anybody wants to visit Wageningen,\u00ab says Janna Barel, PR-coordinator for the choir and orchestra. <\/p>\n
The repertoire for the concert on Friday will include Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Nordic a-capella works as well as modern Dutch compositions such as by the composer Andriessen.<\/p>\n
Going on a Scandinavian tour, the students will visit Stockholm and Uppsala after Copenhagen. They have prepared for the tour for more than half a year and when they return to Wageningen it\u2019s back to uni again. <\/p>\n
\u00bbThe concert will be a great experience because we have planned a repertoire which is an exchange between Dutch and Scandinavian classical music. It\u2019s been hard work, but we\u2019ve enjoyed it a lot! We like to think that we make friends with music, and music with friends,\u00ab Janna Barel finishes off. <\/p>\n
The concert by the Wageningen Student Choir and Orchestra will take place on Friday August 24, 2012, 19:30 at Hellig Kors Church, Kapelvej 38, 2200 K\u00f8benhavn N. The concert is free and everybody is more than welcome.<\/p>\n
