Our music reviewer cooked up an eclectic playlist that will satisfy your end-of term desires. People under stress will become more relaxed and concentrated thanks to this selection of songs ranging from 1964 to 2012. So, turn up the volume, lean back and enjoy! Who said studying can’t be fun?<\/p>\n

10) Philippe Sarde – Deux Hommes Dans La Ville <\/h2>\n[video:http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZMcpWue1UC4&feature=related width:432 height:324 align:center]\n

French composer of film music, Philippe Sarde was nominated for an Oscar in 1981 for best music but escaped the statuette, ousted by Michael Gore. String instruments (guitars and violins) accompanied the main theme in a moving and melancholic way.<\/p>\n

9) Sigur R\u00f3s – Hopp\u00edpolla <\/h2>\n[video:http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qmXMA34CeoQ width:432 height:324 align:center]\n

This group from Reykjavik is one of the major groups of the current post-rock scene. \u2018Hopp\u00edpolla\u2019 is absolutely great, this music really sends you. The song has been broadcasted a lot on TV spots and cinema trailers such as the trailer of \u2018Slumdog Millionaire\u2019.<\/p>\n

8) Henry Mancini – A Shot In The Dark <\/h2>\n[video:http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5enOsT3kdVc width:432 height:324 align:center]\n

\u2018A Shot In The Dark\u2019 released in 1964 is the second film of the Pink Panther series directed by Blake Edwards. The theme of the soundtrack is influenced by swing and use a melodic harmonium. During his career, Mancini won 20 Grammy Awards, 4 Academy Awards and one Golden Globe.<\/p>\n

7) Caribou – Irene <\/h2>\n[video:http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Ys1ebo0vzik width:432 height:324 align:center]\n

Another Canadian of the playlist, Caribou released \u2018Irene\u2019 , a soothing and floating song from the album \u2018Andorra\u2019 which won the Polaris Music Prize in 2008 in Canada. Two years later, he repeated the success with \u2018Swim\u2019, that can be described as psychedelic electro-pop.<\/p>\n

6) Yom – The Wonder Rabbis <\/h2>\n[video:http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=mj0pF4lAKa4 width:432 height:324 align:center]\n

Klezmer music is originated from Jewish communities in Eastern Europe. The rhythmic is particularly grooving thanks to the percussion instruments. Yom adds a subtle touch of electro rock in this song, keeping his clarinet as the main instrument.<\/p>\n

5) Mr Scruff – Get A Move On <\/h2>\n[video:http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MS_CLIF1h-o width:432 height:324 align:center]\n

This sample taken from Moondog, is made with a lively house beat. \u2018Get A Move On\u2019 enabled Mr Scruff to acquire a reputation beyond British borders. He released this song on Ninja Tune, the famous electronic label from London, 30 years after the original one, \u2018Bird\u2019s Lament\u2019, composed in 1969 .<\/p>\n

4) Philip Glass – Window of appearances <\/h2>\n[video:http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JBqQrmBIkvg width:432 height:324 align:center]\n

Philip Glass is one of the pioneers of minimalist music. In this song which comes from the opera Akhnaten written in 1983, a soprano voice provides an emotional accompaniment. He was inspired by the life and religious convictions of the pharaoh Akhenaton.<\/p>\n

3) Robot Koch – Hard To Find <\/h2>\n[video:http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RtlevksI2iw width:432 height:324 align:center]\n

Member of the Berlin band ‘Jacoozi’, he is renowned for his sophisticated electronic recordings. \u2018Hard To Find\u2019 is probably one of his proudest accomplishments. A cleverly mixing of dub, electronic and hip hop. <\/p>\n

2) Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross – In The Hall Of The Mountain King <\/h2>\n[video:http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dizlR9uJmIY width:432 height:324 align:center]\n

You may have heard this mysterious tune in the film The Social Network. Actually, the original song is from a masterpiece of Norwegian Edvard Grieg called Peer Gynt. In 2011, \u2018The Social Network\u2019 received the Golden Globe and the Oscar for best film soundtrack.<\/p>\n

1) BadBadNotGood – Flashing Lights <\/h2>\n[video:http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=g_Cu6BQxwzc width:432 height:324 align:center]\n

\u2018BadBadNotGood\u2019 are three Canadians who work closely with rapper \u2018Tyler The Creator\u2019 . Here, they took over the Kanye West song, adding an original jazzy keyboard. It\u2019s a real success. At just 20 years old, they have the ability to reach incredible heights in improvisation. <\/p>\n

String instruments (guitars and violins) accompanied the main theme in a moving and melancholic way.<\/p>\n<h2>9) Sigur R\u00f3s – Hopp\u00edpolla <\/h2>\n[video:http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qmXMA34CeoQ width:432 height:324 align:center]\n<p>This group from Reykjavik is one of the major groups of the current post-rock scene. \u2018Hopp\u00edpolla\u2019 is absolutely great, this music really sends you. The song has been broadcasted a lot on TV spots and cinema trailers such as the trailer of \u2018Slumdog Millionaire\u2019.<\/p>\n<h2>8) Henry Mancini – A Shot In The Dark <\/h2>\n[video:http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5enOsT3kdVc width:432 height:324 align:center]\n<p>\u2018A Shot In The Dark\u2019 released in 1964 is the second film of the Pink Panther series directed by Blake Edwards. The theme of the soundtrack is influenced by swing and use a melodic harmonium. During his career, Mancini won 20 Grammy Awards, 4 Academy Awards and one Golden Globe.<\/p>\n<h2>7) Caribou – Irene <\/h2>\n[video:http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Ys1ebo0vzik width:432 height:324 align:center]\n<p>Another Canadian of the playlist, Caribou released \u2018Irene\u2019 , a soothing and floating song from the album \u2018Andorra\u2019 which won the Polaris Music Prize in 2008 in Canada. He released this song on Ninja Tune, the famous electronic label from London, 30 years after the original one, \u2018Bird\u2019s Lament\u2019, composed in 1969 .<\/p>\n<h2> 4) Philip Glass – Window of appearances <\/h2>\n[video:http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JBqQrmBIkvg width:432 height:324 align:center]\n<p>Philip Glass is one of the pioneers of minimalist music. In this song which comes from the opera Akhnaten written in 1983, a soprano voice provides an emotional accompaniment. Actually, the original song is from a masterpiece of Norwegian Edvard Grieg called Peer Gynt.
