Earlier this month, the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) could welcome a new so-called ‘student ambassador’ \u2014 which is an impartial, student advisor, role.<\/p>\n
Her name is Majken R\u00f8nnow Jensen. She has a law degree from UCPH and walked into the central campus building complex for her first day on the job on 1 April 2025.<\/p>\n
She is looking forward to getting started on the work with students, for whom she hopes to make a real difference over the coming years.<\/p>\n
\u00bbI\u2019ve worked with people my whole life. I\u2019m passionate about making a difference \u2014 especially for those who don\u2019t have the resources to navigate the challenges they face on their own. And I\u2019m excited to help support the development of a meaningful work and study environment,\u00ab says Majken R\u00f8nnow Jensen, who spent 20 years as a caseworker for socially disadvantaged citizens before earning her master’s in law from UCPH in 2021.<\/p>\n
I will keep an open and curious mind about the issues students face \u2014 and how I can help make things easier across the board<\/p>\n
Majken R\u00f8nnow Jensen, Student Ambassador<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Since 2022 she has managed the legal department at the legal aid non-profit Den Sociale Retshj\u00e6lps Fond<\/em>, which helps people in need of legal or social counselling. The foundation is staffed primarily by volunteer law and social work students.<\/p>\nThe new student ambassador is therefore used to working closely with students. In her previous role, Majken R\u00f8nnow Jensen not only supervised students but also coached them on how best to counsel other citizens. Now it\u2019s the students themselves who will be seeking her guidance.<\/p>\n
\u00bbThrough my work at the legal aid foundation, I\u2019ve really enjoyed collaborating with students and helping to counsel them \u2014 not just in legal matters, but also in interpersonal and communication skills,\u00ab she says, adding:<\/p>\n
\u00bbThis new role is a bit different, and I\u2019m looking forward to building bridges and strengthening the dialogue between students and the University of Copenhagen.\u00ab<\/p>\n
Only at UCPH<\/h3>\n
UCPH is the only university in Denmark that has a student ambassador \u2014 someone students can approach for guidance on things like academic matters and complaints procedures.<\/p>\n
In addition to advising students, the student ambassador also attends meetings with the university administration and prepares an annual report highlighting the issues that have been most pressing for students over the past year.<\/p>\n

The student ambassador role at UCPH is initially a five-year appointment, with the option of a three-year extension. Majken R\u00f8nnow Jensen takes over from Bo Gad K\u00f8hlert, who held the position for eight years.<\/p>\n
\u00bbI approach this new position with humility. I want to remain open and inquisitive about the challenges students face, and explore how I can contribute to making things better for everyone involved,\u00ab she says.<\/p>\n
Majken R\u00f8nnow Jensen will report directly to Prorector for Education, Kristian C. Lauta.<\/p>\n
\u00bbThe student ambassador is an important institution at the University of Copenhagen. Majken will be a highly skilled ambassador who can critically challenge and constructively support the building of an even better study administration, and she will work tirelessly to create better conditions for our students. And I\u2019m excited to help support the development of a meaningful work and study environment,\u00ab says Majken R\u00f8nnow Jensen, who spent 20 years as a caseworker for socially disadvantaged citizens before earning her master’s in law from UCPH in 2021.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I will keep an open and curious mind about the issues students face \u2014 and how I can help make things easier across the board<\/p>\n<p class=\"quotee\">Majken R\u00f8nnow Jensen, Student Ambassador<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Since 2022 she has managed the legal department at the legal aid non-profit <em>Den Sociale Retshj\u00e6lps Fond<\/em>, which helps people in need of legal or social counselling. The foundation is staffed primarily by volunteer law and social work students.<\/p>\n<p>The new student ambassador is therefore used to working closely with students. In her previous role, Majken R\u00f8nnow Jensen not only supervised students but also coached them on how best to counsel other citizens. Now it\u2019s the students themselves who will be seeking her guidance.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbThrough my work at the legal aid foundation, I\u2019ve really enjoyed collaborating with students and helping to counsel them \u2014 not just in legal matters, but also in interpersonal and communication skills,\u00ab she says, adding:<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbThis new role is a bit different, and I\u2019m looking forward to building bridges and strengthening the dialogue between students and the University of Copenhagen.\u00ab<\/p>\n<h3>Only at UCPH<\/h3>\n<p>UCPH is the only university in Denmark that has a student ambassador \u2014 someone students can approach for guidance on things like academic matters and complaints procedures.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to advising students, the student ambassador also attends meetings with the university administration and prepares an annual report highlighting the issues that have been most pressing for students over the past year.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I\u2019m very much looking forward to the collaboration<\/p>\n<p class=\"quotee\">Kristian C. Lauta, Prorector for Education, UCPH<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The student ambassador role at UCPH is initially a five-year appointment, with the option of a three-year extension. Majken R\u00f8nnow Jensen takes over from Bo Gad K\u00f8hlert, who held the position for eight years.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbI approach this new position with humility. I want to remain open and inquisitive about the challenges students face, and explore how I can contribute to making things better for everyone involved,\u00ab she says.<\/p>\n<p>Majken R\u00f8nnow Jensen will report directly to Prorector for Education, Kristian C. Lauta.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbThe student ambassador is an important institution at the University of Copenhagen. Majken will be a highly skilled ambassador who can critically challenge and constructively support the building of an even better study administration, and she will work tirelessly to create better conditions for our students.
