Desh Jones is the DJ at the first ever University Post Party.<\/a> Our reporter met up with him to get to know him better. As it turns out, he is a geography student by day, hooked on DJ’ing by night and has the business card of the famous DJ Jean Von Baden in his back pocket.<\/p>\n

1) Can you describe briefly what drove you to become a disc-jockey? <\/strong>
\nI always loved music and especially electronic music. The first record that really inspired me to do something with music was \u201cEverything but the girl – Missing (Todd Terry Remix)\u201d back in 1992 and after a couple of years a friend, who also is a DJ, offered me to play with him and I was hooked. Later on I started to play alone. To see people go crazy to good music is like a drug and you become easily addicted. <\/p>\n

2) Your music is under the influence of what kind of music precisely? <\/strong>
\nMy music is under a lot of different influences and I play a lot of different genres. That is why a play with two different DJ names Azpecialguest and Desh Jones. <\/p>\n

Azpecialguest is my underground alias. When I play as Azpecialguest the music I play is mostly deep and tech house but also some soulful or jacking house and techno.
\nDesh Jones is a name I use for a more commercial and mainstream sound. It is still influence by a lot of house but also r\u2019n\u2019b, reggaeton and a bit of dubstep.<\/p>\n

3) Do you have any plans for your upcoming DJ set in the Studenterhuset for the University Post Party? <\/strong>
\nWell I can promise a lot of good music and a good vibe from the DJ-booth. But it all depends on the crowd that night. If you seen me play to the International Nights you get a good idea about what I\u2019m going to play.<\/p>\n

4) If you don\u2019t have a clue about what music you will play on Friday, can you tell us what are your current hits\/idols? (artists or songs that you cannot stop listening to!) <\/strong>
\nCurrently I am listening to the following tracks.<\/p>\n

5) What are your projects for the future? Release a remixes album, an EP, work with other musicians, Ed Bangers or Ninja Tune?<\/strong>
\nI\u2019m working on my new studio and hopefully its ready soon so I can make music again. But with two to four gigs a week right now it\u2019s hard to find the time to make music; I have to study on my Master’s in Geography as well.<\/p>\n

6)Do you have any anecdotes from your recent DJ gigs?<\/strong>
\nYeah, I was playing at Bar 7 in Copenhagen this winter and after my second track in my DJ set one of the coolest DJs I\u2019ve met in a very long time, Jean Von Baden, gave me his business card and told me that we had to talk after the party. I was a bit surprised but also very proud, because he is one of the big guys among Danish DJs! <\/p>\n

7)Say whatever you want about your current activity, experience as a DJ, here is space for your promotion pitch!<\/strong>
\nFor me it’s all about making people dance to good music and you can find me every Wednesday to the International Nights party at the Studenterhuset KBH or somewhere else for the rest of the week. <\/p>\n

As it turns out, he is a geography student by day, hooked on DJ’ing by night and has the business card of the famous DJ Jean Von Baden in his back pocket.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1) Can you describe briefly what drove you to become a disc-jockey? <\/strong><br \/>\nI always loved music and especially electronic music. The first record that really inspired me to do something with music was \u201cEverything but the girl – Missing (Todd Terry Remix)\u201d back in 1992 and after a couple of years a friend, who also is a DJ, offered me to play with him and I was hooked. Later on I started to play alone. To see people go crazy to good music is like a drug and you become easily addicted. <\/p>\n<p><strong>2) Your music is under the influence of what kind of music precisely? <\/strong><br \/>\nMy music is under a lot of different influences and I play a lot of different genres. That is why a play with two different DJ names Azpecialguest and Desh Jones. <\/p>\n<p>Azpecialguest is my underground alias. When I play as Azpecialguest the music I play is mostly deep and tech house but also some soulful or jacking house and techno.<br \/>\nDesh Jones is a name I use for a more commercial and mainstream sound. It is still influence by a lot of house but also r\u2019n\u2019b, reggaeton and a bit of dubstep.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3) Do you have any plans for your upcoming DJ set in the Studenterhuset for the University Post Party? <\/strong><br \/>\nWell I can promise a lot of good music and a good vibe from the DJ-booth. But it all depends on the crowd that night. If you seen me play to the International Nights you get a good idea about what I\u2019m going to play.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4) If you don\u2019t have a clue about what music you will play on Friday, can you tell us what are your current hits\/idols? Release a remixes album, an EP, work with other musicians, Ed Bangers or Ninja Tune?<\/strong><br \/>\nI\u2019m working on my new studio and hopefully its ready soon so I can make music again. But with two to four gigs a week right now it\u2019s hard to find the time to make music; I have to study on my Master’s in Geography as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6)Do you have any anecdotes from your recent DJ gigs?<\/strong><br \/>\nYeah, I was playing at Bar 7 in Copenhagen this winter and after my second track in my DJ set one of the coolest DJs I\u2019ve met in a very long time, Jean Von Baden, gave me his business card and told me that we had to talk after the party.
