Just like last year, Swedish universities Karolinska, Uppsala and Lund all figure in the top 100 of the Times world reputation ranking.<\/p>\n

And just like last year, no Danish universities figure at all.<\/p>\n

Times Higher Education began to release reputational rankings in 2011 as a supplement to their higher profile overall ranking which is released in the Autumn. On this ranking Copenhagen was last scored at 135.<\/a> In the reputational ranking no ranks are released for universities below 100.<\/p>\n

Rankings criticised<\/h2>\n

The ranking is based on a survey of 31,000 individual academics from 149 countries with 17,554 detailed responses, Times Higher Education says.<\/p>\n

Rankings have come under increasing criticism<\/a> for being methodologically suspect, and a waste of time and effort. Still rankings proliferate with the University of Copenhagen, like other universities, actively striving for top performances on rankings such as the QS, Times Higher Education and Leiden indices.<\/p>\n

The Times Higher Education ranking traditionally favours English-speaking countries. This year\u2019s reputation score is no exception, with Harvard scoring top spot this year, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Cambridge. Only one out of the top ten was from a non-English speaking university, namely the University of Tokyo, ranked eighth.<\/p>\n
