","use_post_excerpt":false},{"acf_fc_layout":"Byline","is_author":false,"contributors":[{"use_registered_user":false,"user":false,"contributor_name":"Anna Meera Gaonkar","contributor_title":" ","contributor_image":false}]},{"acf_fc_layout":"Content","content":"<p>The European Economic Association, EEA, has set up a prize for influential women economists, and it will be named after a Danish one: Birgit Grodal.<\/p>\n<p>She was the first female elected President of the EEA, but passed away before she was due to take up her presidency. Once Professor of Economics at the University of Copenhagen, Birgit Grodal is one of the reasons why the Department of Economics has such a good reputation abroad, according to Troels \u00d8stergaard S\u00f8rensen, former head of department. It is a great honour to have an international prize named after her, he says.<\/p>\n<p>The first \u2018Birgit Grodal Award\u2019 winner will be announced in May 2012, and the winner takes home EUR 10,000. The prize is to be given every even year, and the first three editions will by sponsored by the Danish central bank Nationalbanken.
