Culture Night started in 1993 and is supposed to stimulate your cultural curiosity, with over 500 institutions taking part. The University of Copenhagen, as one of these institutions, has itself loads of stuff going on come Friday. <\/p>\n
A guide to what the University of Copenhagen<\/em> has in the offering on Culture Night, is upcoming on the University Post, but here we concentrate on the rest, and have made three key recommendations.<\/p>\n Culture Night is your excuse to go out and be extremely cultural, bordering on the pretentious. We recommend you not one, but two photography exhibitions, giving you the opportunity to contrast and compare two different sides of the same media.<\/p>\n \u2018Ny Dansk Fotografi\u2019 \u2013 \u2018New Danish Photography\u2019 \u2013 gives you the chance to catch up on a new generation of shakers and movers on the Danish photography scene. Fotografisk Center is devoted to promoting awareness about what Danish art photography has to offer, and on Culture Night, a special exhibition here will present the work of several prominent Danish photographers, all born in the 1970s. <\/p>\n For a more international focus, we recommend 16tyve\u2019s exhibition humbly titled \u2018World Class Photography\u2019. The project started in 2003 and has been a huge success ever since. The team has been competing internationally for years, and latest in the Homeless World Cup 2011 in Paris, where the Danish team placed 4th. <\/p>\n Like any other national team, the players of the homeless football team have to prove their value before being chosen, but an important part of the project is to build a social network for a group of people who can be isolated in their everyday lives. The team players are chosen based on their skills on the field and their social- and life situations. <\/p>\n But don\u2019t mistake the team\u2019s motto, \u2018hugs, squeezes and love\u2019, for a softy approach to the game. This Friday, with confidence still soaring after their fourth place at the World Cup, the national homeless team invites you and you own team to play against them! After Culture Night has officially ended, the after party in Carlsberg\u2019s TAP 2 is in a category of it\u2019s own, a definite must-do, and therefore our top pick of the week. <\/p>\n Week 40 is actually the official alcohol awareness week, and the powers that be have for years and years tried to use this week to convince the Danish people to limit their alcohol consumption. However, something tells us that this will be abandoned by Carlsberg this Friday, where the party starts at 11 and doesn\u2019t end until 4. <\/p>\n Three top-notch DJs \u2013 Djuna Barnes, Jean von Baden and Christian D\u2019or \u2013 are lined up to keep the party going until the early morning. We are especially looking forward to see what ticks Jean von Baden, party promoter extraordinaire and former go-go dancer in Ibiza, has up his sleeve.
