It is to be Lundgaard & Tranberg Arkitekter A\/S who will design the Plant Research Centre, which is to be located in the Faculty of Life Sciences. <\/p>\n<p>The construction is expected to be finished in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The new centre will consist of 6,825 square metres of laboratory and teaching space. The winner of the competition has also planned the larger 25,000 surrounding with several adjoined, as yet un-financed, buildings. <\/p>\n<h2>Beautiful answer to complexity<\/h2>\n<p>The winning proposal is inspired by plant and cell forms.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbThe proposal is a simple, beautiful answer to the complex task of building a new plant research centre. The construction fits in to the place as a kind of paraphrase on cell division, that originates in the existing building’s straight lines,\u00ab the jury stated in the presentation of the winner.<\/p>\n<p>The jury consisted of representatives of the Danish University and Property Agency, the University of Copenhagen, Frederiksberg town council and three professionals. <\/p>\n<h2>Will attract best researchers, students<\/h2>\n<p>The Centre is to unite all research and education activities in plant biotechnology and improve basic research in the industrial application of plant biotechnology. <\/p>\n<p>Minister of Science Charlotte Sahl-Madsen said at the presentation of the winning project that the \u00bbCopenhagen Plant Science Centre will be one of the most advanced in the world, and will be able to attract some of the best researchers and students\u00ab. <\/p>\n<p>See more pictures of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubst.dk\/ejendom-og-byggeri\/byggeprojekter\/copenhagen-plant-science-centre\/view\" target=\"_blank\">winning concept on this page here.
