
{"id":22210,"date":"2010-09-07T08:49:53","date_gmt":"2010-09-07T06:49:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/?p=22210\/"},"modified":"2017-01-21T04:42:12","modified_gmt":"2017-01-21T04:42:12","slug":"new-centre-for-old-bones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/en\/new-centre-for-old-bones\/","title":{"rendered":"New centre for old bones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Scientists move one step closer to explaining the mysteries of mass-extinctions  and the pre-history of humanity, as the University of Copenhagen\u2019s new centre for GeoGenetic opens today Tuesday 7 September, <\/p>\n<p>Center for GeoGenetics is located at the university\u2019s Museum of Natural History. <\/p>\n<p>The new centre, which bridges the gap between the humanities and natural sciences, will be led by world-renowned genetic researcher Eske Willerslev. <\/p>\n<h2>Rewriting history<\/h2>\n<p>Last year Willerslev shot to fame when he was the first to map the genome of a long-dead human being. He has high hopes for the impact of the newly opened centre: <\/p>\n<p>\u00bbThere is no doubt that we will rewrite world history over the next five years, with regard to a number of points. This is because we are able to look more precisely at the past\u00ab,says Eske Willerslev in a university press release.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bbThe unique thing about the centre is that we build bridges between the natural sciences and the humanities.
