Danish researchers are highly regarded among their international colleagues and Danish research has one of the highest citation frequencies in international journals.<\/p>\n

This is according to the report ‘Forskningsbarometer 2009’, which compares research in the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) and in Brazil, Russia, India and China. <\/p>\n

Based on the number of publications per million inhabitants in a range of international scientific journals, Denmark comes in at number three, after Sweden and Switzerland. On average, the 8,737 Danish articles published in 2008 were cited 7.11 times. <\/p>\n

If the number of citations per publication is taken into account, Denmark is second only to Switzerland. <\/p>\n
