It\u2019s a warm Wednesday afternoon when I step through the doorway to Studenterhuset (eng. The Student House), a place with cheap coffee and live music that is the heart and soul of University of Copenhagen\u2019s student life. I am here to track down Studenterhuset\u2019s manager Kristian Skj\u00f8th Madsen to find out what\u2019s hot on September\u2019s calendar of events.<\/p>\n
When asked about what\u2019s exciting in September he is quick to reply: \u00abThe exciting thing in September is that we are open\u00ab. <\/p>\n
In the effort to consolidate properties, the third floor of Studenterhuset is being converted into office space for university departments. Pesky safety regulations threatened to close the caf\u00e9, but the fire department was able to safeguard the area allowing Studenterhuset to stay open during renovations.<\/p>\n
The music schedule for September includes two release parties, beatbox nights, and a music festival. So what are the must sees for this month\u2019s program?<\/p>\n
\u00bbDefinitely Rufus Spencer and the Better Looking Band. I think it\u2019s going to be a great show,\u00ab Kristian says.<\/p>\n
The singer\/songwriter and his band took the rock NORD award at Nibe festival this summer with their folk inspired tunes and will be unplugged at Studenterhuset on September 11th.<\/p>\n
Kristian\u2019s second pick is Rusk festival 2009 which takes the stage on the 26th, ending the month on a good note. The concert is a showcase of up and coming talent from the music association Rusk and features bands such as The Telenovelas, Juno Bell and Circular Condition.<\/p>\n
\u00bbIt\u2019s going to be one hell of a party,\u00ab says Kristian with a smile.<\/p>\n
There is more to look forward to in September. Kristian is enthusiastic about Kilroy LIVE, an exposition designed to guide students in their travel and study abroad ambitions. The event is hosted by Kilroy, a company offering affordable travel related services to youth and students. <\/p>\n
Kilroy is also sponsoring a contest to win an all expense paid trip for ten to Roskilde Festival.<\/p>\n
