applications<\/secret>. Just over half with UCPH as their first priority.<\/p>\nThe programmes that have the most applicants in quota 2 are:<\/h3>\n
1 Medicine: 1,684 applications (an increase of 6.6 per cent from last year).<\/p>\n
2 Psychology: 1,087 applications (a decrease of 4.1 per cent from last year).<\/p>\n
3 Law: 955 applications (decrease of 5.5 per cent.)<\/p>\n
4 Veterinary medicine: 503 applications (down 3.8 per cent).<\/p>\n
5 Odontology (dentistry): 390 applications (up 8.3 per cent).<\/p>\n
6 Political Science: 313 applications (down 4 per cent).<\/p>\n
7 Film and Media Studies: 299 applications (down 22.7 per cent).<\/p>\n
8 Anthropology: 269 applications (down 12.1 per cent).<\/p>\n
9 Sport: 261 applications (down 18.7 per cent).<\/p>\n
10 Dental hygienist: 237 applications (down 4.4 per cent)<\/p>\n

According to the Education Services at UCPH which is responsible for the enrollment of students, it may be due to a new government cap on education programmes<\/em> that prevents people with one education from applying for a new at the same or lower level. Several quota 2 applicants have already completed their training.<\/p>\nWhile technical and natural sciences such as medical and dental studies<\/secret> have received more applications than last year, the humanities subjects have taken a dive (film and media studies, which is still on the top 10 of favourite subjects, got 22.7 per cent fewer applications).<\/p>\n\n

It can, according to UCPH, be due to the public perception of humanities subjects leading to unemployment and job insecurity, and politicians downsizing the number of study places (the so-called dimensioning reforms).<\/p>\n
“There is a general tendency for the downsized study programmes to also drop in their number of quota 2 applications. When a programme is downsized, it brings on a negative focus on employment opportunities. And in the public debate it is the humanities in particular that are mentioned in connection with the downsizing,” says head of section Pernille Kindtler from the University’s Education Service, according to a press release.<\/p>\n
“It can therefore have a greater impact on applications for the humanities programmes, despite the fact that the downsizing of programmes has hit the university widely.”

Just over half with UCPH as their first priority.<\/p>\n<h3>The programmes that have the most applicants in quota 2 are:<\/h3>\n<p>1 Medicine: 1,684 applications (an increase of 6.6 per cent from last year).<\/p>\n<p>2 Psychology: 1,087 applications (a decrease of 4.1 per cent from last year).<\/p>\n<p>3 Law: 955 applications (decrease of 5.5 per cent.)<\/p>\n<p>4 Veterinary medicine: 503 applications (down 3.8 per cent).<\/p>\n<p>5 Odontology (dentistry): 390 applications (up 8.3 per cent).<\/p>\n<p>6 Political Science: 313 applications (down 4 per cent).<\/p>\n<p>7 Film and Media Studies: 299 applications (down 22.7 per cent).<\/p>\n<p>8 Anthropology: 269 applications (down 12.1 per cent).<\/p>\n<p>9 Sport: 261 applications (down 18.7 per cent).<\/p>\n<p>10 Dental hygienist: 237 applications (down 4.4 per cent)<\/p>\n<p><em>(Source: Education Services unit at the University of Copenhagen).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In total, UCPH received 585 fewer applications for quota 2 in 2017 than in 2016. According to the Education Services at UCPH which is responsible for the enrollment of students, it may be due to a new government <em>cap on education programmes<\/em> that prevents people with one education from applying for a new at the same or lower level. Several quota 2 applicants have already completed their training.<\/p>\n<p>While technical and natural sciences such as medical and <secret text=\"as well as agricultural economics, pharmacy and actuarial mathematics ...\">dental studies<\/secret> have received more applications than last year, the humanities subjects have taken a dive (film and media studies, which is still on the top 10 of favourite subjects, got 22.7 per cent fewer applications).<\/p>\n<div class=\"factbox\">\n<p class=\"factbox-header feature-color\">Women apply the most<\/p>\n<p>8,094 applicants<\/p>\n<p>10,651 applications sent (because it is possible to apply for several subjects at UCPH)<\/p>\n<p>Women: 5,177<\/p>\n<p>Men: 2,917<\/p>\n<p>Average age: 23.9 years<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>It can, according to UCPH, be due to the public perception of humanities subjects leading to unemployment and job insecurity, and politicians downsizing the number of study places (the so-called dimensioning reforms).<\/p>\n<p>“There is a general tendency for the downsized study programmes to also drop in their number of quota 2 applications. When a programme is downsized, it brings on a negative focus on employment opportunities.
