This is according to the\u00a0<secret text=\"The numbers have been extracted from WoS (Web of Science).\">university\u2019s own tally of the numbers.<\/secret><\/p>\n<p>UCPH also published <a href=\"http:\/\/nyheder.ku.dk\/alle_nyheder\/2017\/04\/nye-tal-ku-er-blevet-nordens-spydspids-i-nature-og-science\/Nature_notat.pdf\">a memo<\/a> showing the 10 researchers who published the most articles in the two journals in the years 2013-2016.<\/p>\n<p>See which researchers top the list with links to some of their articles in Nature and Science below. (For a discussion of what can be deduced from the numbers, we <a href=\"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/en\/nordic-record-ucph-the-most-published-in-prestigious-journals\/\">refer to this article)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>8-10th: Ludovic Orlando<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Employed at<\/strong>: Centre for GeoGenetics, Natural History Museum of Denmark<br \/>\nFaculty of Science.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research areas<\/strong>: Biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology, agricultural science and biotechnology.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Number of articles in Nature or Science publications<\/strong>: 15<\/p>\n<p>The Top 10 list includes several researchers from the Eske Willerslev-led Centre for GeoGenetics. Ludovic Orlando was <secret text=\"From ENS Lyon, a top 5 university in France. Source: geogenetics.ku.dk.\">recruited to the centre<\/secret> in 2010, and has since then led his own group. The Orlando group has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/nature\/journal\/v499\/n7456\/full\/nature12323.html\">mapped the genome of a prehistoric animal<\/a> (a 700,000 year old horse from what is now Canada) and shed new light on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencemag.org\/news\/2016\/05\/frozen-scythian-stallions-unravel-mysteries-horse-domestication?utm_source=newsfromscience&amp;utm_medium=facebook-text&amp;utm_campaign=horsemestication-4359\">how horses were domesticated<\/a>. Read about the group&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/geogenetics.ku.dk\/research_groups\/gilbert_groups\/\">research here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>8-10th: S\u00f8ren Brunak<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Employed at<\/strong>: Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research areas<\/strong>: Biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology, medicine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Number of articles in Nature or Science publication<\/strong>s: 15<\/p>\n<p>After 25 years at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), S\u00f8ren Brunak arrived at the University of Copenhagen in 2015 to<a href=\"http:\/\/sund.ku.dk\/nyheder\/nyheder2015\/professor-soeren-brunak-og-ny-satsning-paa-big-data-medicine-paa-sund-og-rigshospitalet\/\"> lead a large project on<\/a> so-called &#8216;big data medicine&#8217;. Rasmus Nielsen is a professor at Berkeley and the University of Copenhagen and has (among other things) worked with Eske Willerslev on investigating the so-called <secret text=\"A 9,000 year-old, very controversial skeleton which, the researchers proved, was an indigenous Indian.\">Kennewick man<\/secret>. He has helped show how genetic studies can <a href=\"http:\/\/stm.sciencemag.org\/content\/8\/341\/341ra76\">predict the side effects of drugs<\/a>. He has since come to the University of Copenhagen where he continues his research as an associate professor on a tenure track position. His name has also appeared in the domestic press in recent years in connection with his studies of the effects of intestinal bacteria on health and disease risk. The identical twins are said to be the next big thing in international science,&#8221; Berlingske wrote prophetically in 2006. UCPH\u2019s third-biggest Science \/ Nature publishing researcher hardly needs an introduction. His mapping of DNA has shed new light on human development and on migration patterns. This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/05\/17\/science\/eske-willerslev-ancient-dna-scientist.html?_r=1\">New York Times article<\/a> has an overview. Eske Willerslev, the head of the Centre for GeoGenetics, is a professor at Cambridge and represents academic staff on the University of Copenhagen Board of Directors.<\/p>\n<h2>2nd: Torben Hansen<\/h2>\n<p><!-- end of module 1 --><br \/>\n<strong>Employed at:<\/strong> Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research areas:<\/strong> Medicine, biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Number of articles in Nature or Science publications<\/strong>: 27<\/p>\n<p>Since the 1990s, Torben Hansen has researched the importance of genes for the development of diabetes and obesity \u2013 with a particular focus on childhood obesity. As a 22-year-old, he joined the Beijing Genomics Institute, where he later became director, and together with his team mapped the DNA of Asian people, rice plants, SARS, pandas, silkworms, bacteria in our digestive system, and more. Since 2009 he has held an Ole R\u00f8mer professorship at the University of Copenhagen and in recent years has moved his focus towards the encounter between artificial intelligence, big data and DNA research. Eske Willerslev is on the list. This is according to the\u00a0<secret text=\"The numbers have been extracted from WoS (Web of Science).\">university\u2019s own tally of the numbers.<\/secret><\/p>\n<p>UCPH also published <a href=\"http:\/\/nyheder.ku.dk\/alle_nyheder\/2017\/04\/nye-tal-ku-er-blevet-nordens-spydspids-i-nature-og-science\/Nature_notat.pdf\">a memo<\/a> showing the 10 researchers who published the most articles in the two journals in the years 2013-2016.<\/p>\n<p>See which researchers top the list with links to some of their articles in Nature and Science below. Ludovic Orlando was <secret text=\"From ENS Lyon, a top 5 university in France. Source: geogenetics.ku.dk.\">recruited to the centre<\/secret> in 2010, and has since then led his own group. The Orlando group has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/nature\/journal\/v499\/n7456\/full\/nature12323.html\">mapped the genome of a prehistoric animal<\/a> (a 700,000 year old horse from what is now Canada) and shed new light on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencemag.org\/news\/2016\/05\/frozen-scythian-stallions-unravel-mysteries-horse-domestication?utm_source=newsfromscience&amp;utm_medium=facebook-text&amp;utm_campaign=horsemestication-4359\">how horses were domesticated<\/a>. Rasmus Nielsen is a professor at Berkeley and the University of Copenhagen and has (among other things) worked with Eske Willerslev on investigating the so-called <secret text=\"A 9,000 year-old, very controversial skeleton which, the researchers proved, was an indigenous Indian.\">Kennewick man<\/secret>. He has helped show how genetic studies can <a href=\"http:\/\/stm.sciencemag.org\/content\/8\/341\/341ra76\">predict the side effects of drugs<\/a>. His name has also appeared in the domestic press in recent years in connection with his studies of the effects of intestinal bacteria on health and disease risk. As a 22-year-old, he joined the Beijing Genomics Institute, where he later became director, and together with his team mapped the DNA of Asian people, rice plants, SARS, pandas, silkworms, bacteria in our digestive system, and more. Since 2009 he has held an Ole R\u00f8mer professorship at the University of Copenhagen and in recent years has moved his focus towards the encounter between artificial intelligence, big data and DNA research.
