
{"id":4902,"date":"2015-09-07T07:02:10","date_gmt":"2015-09-07T05:02:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/?p=4902\/"},"modified":"2017-01-20T21:46:30","modified_gmt":"2017-01-20T21:46:30","slug":"new-guidelines-on-how-to-treat-international-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/en\/new-guidelines-on-how-to-treat-international-students\/","title":{"rendered":"New guidelines on how to treat international students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new <a href=\"http:\/\/ufm.dk\/en\/education-and-institutions\/higher-education\/the-danish-higher-education-system\/eng_-code-of-conduct_retningslinjer-for-udbud-af-danske-videregaende-uddannelser-til-internationale-studer.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">code of conduct <\/a> has been released by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science that includes things like ensuring that Danish institutions divulge all necessary information about their English-language programs prior to students&#8217; admission.<\/p>\n<p>The code of conduct is aimed at Danish higher eductional institutions and their partners, and is a set of rules on how to inform, guide and admit international students who seek to study in Denmark. Previously individual universities had their own set of procedures. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Different countries&#8217; education systems can be hard to understand. The new joint guidelines are to help students gain an overview over the Danish education institutions and the high quality of the different education programmes, so they choose Denmark. Danish companies have made it clear that they will lack highly qualified labour power in the future. Joint guidelines are an important tool in meeting this challenge, says Minister of Higher Education and Research Esben Lunde Larsen.<\/p>\n<h2>Part of internationalisation strategy<\/h2>\n<p>The information given to the international student should include things as how the programme of interest is structured, tution fees, requirements and other important administrative information. According to the new code of conduct, the student should at all times have the opportunity to find information about all stages of their studies.<\/p>\n<p>Another important point is what the applicant can expect to gain from the programme. Higher institutions have to ensure clear communication about what the student can expect to learn and what skills can be obtained during their studies.  Institutions must also thoroughly check that applicants meet a programme&#8217;s requirements. <\/p>\n<p>The Code of Conduct is part of the ministry&#8217;s internationalization strategy.
