{"id":4943,"date":"2015-09-01T10:17:39","date_gmt":"2015-09-01T08:17:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/?p=4943\/"},"modified":"2017-01-20T21:48:21","modified_gmt":"2017-01-20T21:48:21","slug":"ucph-team-sprinted-to-record-dhl-relay-win-updated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/en\/ucph-team-sprinted-to-record-dhl-relay-win-updated\/","title":{"rendered":"UCPH team sprinted to record DHL relay win (updated)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>They did it <a href=\"http:\/\/universitypost.dk\/article\/fastest-runners-university-shocked-find-out-they-had-won-dhl\" target=\"_blank\">last year.<\/a> And in 2015 they did it again, and even faster. <\/p>\n<p>With an average time of 19:20 for each of the 5+ kilometre legs, the team from Medicin x01 jb was seven whole minutes ahead of their 2014 time, making it well-nigh impossible for other university teams to keep up.<\/p>\n<p>Jesper Borg Andersen from the winning team explains to the University Post that the win today was the result of a year-long strategy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We knew that if we were going to go for the universities trophy again, we would have had to go under 20 minutes on average. And we didn&#8217;t leave anything up to coincidence,&#8221; he says.<\/p>\n<h2>Just training hard<\/h2>\n<p>Thomas Lorentzen kicked off as a first starter with a sizzling 16:26 for the first non-traffic-blocked 5k. Jesper Borg Andersen (20:30), Mads Thorsen (20:08), Jonas Kristiansen (18:49) and Emil Pedersen (19:30) were then able to press home their advantage. An advantage that in the end was more than five minutes ahead of the second placed team from Copenhagen Business School &#8216;CBS Finance&#8217;. <\/p>\n<p>The team in 2015 was almost the same as in 2014, but with Jon Dyg Sperling on paternity leave being replaced by Jonas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But the result last Friday was mostly from all of us training hard and just running faster,&#8221; says Jesper Borg Andersen.<\/p>\n<h2>2,040 UCPH runners<\/h2>\n<p>Results in other categories are yet to be confirmed, but reporters from the University Post appear to have won &#8211; for the third time running &#8211;  the fastest on Central Campus trophy.<\/p>\n<div class=\"dme-image dme-image-center dme-image-preset-0\"><picture><img src=\"\/old_files\/medicin_x01.jpg\" class=\"\"  decoding=\"async\"  alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/picture><\/div>\n<p><em>When it came down to it, the winning team&#8217;s efforts were enough by far (Photo: Jaqueline Schr\u00f6ter)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As usual, the DHL event was a huge University of Copenhagen staff and students event with 2,040 runners taking part, slightly off from last year&#8217;s peak.<\/p>\n<h2>Excess food donated to the homeless<\/h2>\n<p>According to organiser Niels Wollesen this translated into 2,200 portions of Chili con Carne, 150 portions of Chili <em>sin<\/em> Carne, 1,500 pieces of fruit, 390 litres chocolate milk and 140 litres of juice. It was all swilled down with 2,000 litres of ecologically sound draught beer.<\/p>\n<p>Excess food was donated to the homeless.<\/p>\n<p>More results and galleries from the event will be forthcoming on the University Post in the coming hours and days. The win was not a coincidence, a team member says","use_post_excerpt":false},{"acf_fc_layout":"Byline","is_author":false,"contributors":[{"use_registered_user":false,"user":false,"contributor_name":"Mike Young","contributor_title":"&nbsp;","contributor_image":false}]},{"acf_fc_layout":"Content","content":"<p>They did it <a href=\"http:\/\/universitypost.dk\/article\/fastest-runners-university-shocked-find-out-they-had-won-dhl\" target=\"_blank\">last year.<\/a> And in 2015 they did it again, and even faster. <\/p>\n<p>With an average time of 19:20 for each of the 5+ kilometre legs, the team from Medicin x01 jb was seven whole minutes ahead of their 2014 time, making it well-nigh impossible for other university teams to keep up.<\/p>\n<p>Jesper Borg Andersen from the winning team explains to the University Post that the win today was the result of a year-long strategy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We knew that if we were going to go for the universities trophy again, we would have had to go under 20 minutes on average. And we didn&#8217;t leave anything up to coincidence,&#8221; he says.<\/p>\n<h2>Just training hard<\/h2>\n<p>Thomas Lorentzen kicked off as a first starter with a sizzling 16:26 for the first non-traffic-blocked 5k. Jesper Borg Andersen (20:30), Mads Thorsen (20:08), Jonas Kristiansen (18:49) and Emil Pedersen (19:30) were then able to press home their advantage. An advantage that in the end was more than five minutes ahead of the second placed team from Copenhagen Business School &#8216;CBS Finance&#8217;. <\/p>\n<p>The team in 2015 was almost the same as in 2014, but with Jon Dyg Sperling on paternity leave being replaced by Jonas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But the result last Friday was mostly from all of us training hard and just running faster,&#8221; says Jesper Borg Andersen.<\/p>\n<h2>2,040 UCPH runners<\/h2>\n<p>Results in other categories are yet to be confirmed, but reporters from the University Post appear to have won &#8211; for the third time running &#8211;  the fastest on Central Campus trophy.<\/p>\n<div class=\"dme-image dme-image-center dme-image-preset-0\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/old_files\/medicin_x01.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/div>\n<p><em>When it came down to it, the winning team&#8217;s efforts were enough by far (Photo: Jaqueline Schr\u00f6ter)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As usual, the DHL event was a huge University of Copenhagen staff and students event with 2,040 runners taking part, slightly off from last year&#8217;s peak.<\/p>\n<h2>Excess food donated to the homeless<\/h2>\n<p>According to organiser Niels Wollesen this translated into 2,200 portions of Chili con Carne, 150 portions of Chili <em>sin<\/em> Carne, 1,500 pieces of fruit, 390 litres chocolate milk and 140 litres of juice. It was all swilled down with 2,000 litres of ecologically sound draught beer.<\/p>\n<p>Excess food was donated to the homeless.<\/p>\n<p>More results and galleries from the event will be forthcoming on the University Post in the coming hours and days.
