Latest fall-out from the Penkowa case complex","use_post_excerpt":false},{"acf_fc_layout":"Byline","is_author":false,"contributors":[{"use_registered_user":false,"user":false,"contributor_name":"Claus Baggersgaard","contributor_title":" ","contributor_image":false}]},{"acf_fc_layout":"Content","content":"<p>The Danish Committees on Scientific Dishonesty (DCSD = in Danish UVVU, ed.) found Bente Klarlund Pedersen to be scientific dishonest in august 2014.<\/p>\n<p>READ: <a href=\"http:\/\/universitypost.dk\/article\/timeline-bente-klarlund-pedersen-case\" target=\"_blank\">Timeline: The Bente Klarlund Pedersen case<\/a><\/p>\n<p>But the famous Danish scientist refused to accept the ruling and took the case to the Eastern High Court trying to clear her name.<\/p>\n<p>Today 18 February the court has ruled in favour of Klarlund Pedersen, clearing her of the scientific dishonesty charges. UVVU should also pay DKK 400,000 to the state treasury to cover the cost of the court case. <\/p>\n<h2>Klarlund relieved<\/h2>\n<p>Bente Klarlund Pedersen says to Danish-language news site Uniavisen.dk, that she now feels cleared of the accusations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dI can only say that I feel happy and relieved,\u00ab said Klarlund Pedersen shortly after reading the verdict. <\/p>\n<p>She expressed gratitude towards friends and supporters who helped doing the the case which started in April 2011.<\/p>\n<h2>Worked together with Penkowa<\/h2>\n<p>Her case is connected to the fraud case of the neuroscientist Milena Penkowa who co-authored several of Klarlund’s articles.<\/p>\n<p>READ ALSO:<a href=\"http:\/\/universitypost.dk\/article\/penkowa-dummies\" target=\"_blank\">Penkowa for dummies<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Penkowa manipulated photos showing muscle tissue used as scientific evidence in three out of eight scientific articles published in international journals together with Bente Klarlund Pedersen.<\/p>\n<p>On 19 July 2011, Professor Henrik Galbo, another former colleague, submitted a report to UVVU regarding the 12 articles co-authored with Penkowa, 11 of which with Bente Klarlund Pedersen as the lead author.<\/p>\n<p>Klarlund maintained the whole time that she had no way of knowing that Penkowa was cheating.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a link to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.domstol.dk\/oestrelandsret\/nyheder\/domsresumeer\/Pages\/Pressemed_18_02_15.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">the court ruling.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>clba@adm.ku.dk <\/p>\n<p>universitypost@adm.ku.dk<\/p>\n<p><em>Like us on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/UniversityPost\" target=\"_blank\"> Facebook <\/a> for features, guides and tips on upcoming events.
