https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ingerstoejbergspetakelmp3.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\nThe event, \u201cI \u00f8jenh\u00f8jde med Inger St\u00f8jberg\u201d (Eye to Eye with Inger St\u00f8jberg), was organised by Politik og Kommunikation, an association for students studying politics or communication, in order to provide her with an opportunity to speak about political communication. During the protest, she sat unruffled in one of the red reading chairs set up for the event as she waited for the demonstrators to leave the auditorium,<\/p>\n
She later took a swipe at the demonstrators, calling their protest an example of bad communication.<\/p>\n
The demonstration has touched off a hefty debate in the political-science student Facebook group ‘Statskundskab p\u00e5 K\u00f8benhavn’.<\/p>\n
One student\u2019s comment that he was disappointed by those who took part had received 150 likes at the time of writing.<\/p>\n
Leif Donb\u00e6k, a solicitor who frequently appears in the media, wrote on Facebook that he felt the disruption was \u201cantidemocratic bullying\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI fear for the coming generation of graduates if this is the limit of the analytical ability and the respect for democracy at our institutes of higher education,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
Jon Rostgaard Boiesen, a teaching assistant at Faculty of Law at Aarhus University, replied to Donb\u00e6k\u2019s comment that exercising the right to free speech was in keeping with the spirit of democracy.<\/p>\n
Questions welcome<\/h2>\n
Alexander Funch, chair of the university\u2019s chapter of Politik og Kommunikation, described the association as non-partisan, and made it clear that it was not involved with the demonstration.<\/p>\n
Politik og Kommunikation regularly organises discussions with lawmakers from all parties. It believes its set-up helps students understand elected officials better.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe respect people\u2019s political points of view, but we hope that our events can be held the way we plan them. There is always time after each conversation to ask questions, and Inger St\u00f8jberg stayed around afterwards. There was plenty of opportunity to engage wither,\u201d Funch says.<\/p>\n
Criticism of activists<\/h2>\n
St\u00f8jberg said she respects the students\u2019 right to demonstrate, but felt that disrupting the event was harmful to the democratic process.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey didn\u2019t want to hear what I had to say. They didn\u2019t want to debate with me. They wanted to disturb the event, then walk out. But, that\u2019s not the first time that\u2019s happened to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
She described the demonstrators as a \u201clame excuse for far-left activists\u201d, and was pleased that their protest failed to stop the event.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe discussion continued after they left,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The group of students who staged the protest explained their position in a comment submitted to the University Post. A comment that has subsequently deleted as it turns out the group used a fake identity for their submission.<\/a>

The protestors interrupted St\u00f8jberg each time she tried to speak by shouting examples of the impact that stricter immigration regulations have had on specific individuals.<\/p>\n<p>The group also hung a banner reading \u201cAsylstramninger \u00f8del\u00e6gger liv\u201d (Tougher asylum destroys lives) at the entrance to the auditorium, and shouted \u201cDin politik sl\u00e5r ihjel\u201d (Your policies kill) as they departed the event after five minutes.<\/p>\n<p>The group declined a request to speak with the University Post about the demonstration.<\/p>\n<h2>Students debate demonstration<\/h2>\n<p>Nine people took part in the demonstration. Many of the others in attendance appeared clearly irritated by the disruption, and some shouted at the group to simmer down or booed them.<\/p>\n<p>[Recording of the demonstration (edited by the University Post)]<\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-64416-2\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ingerstoejbergspetakelmp3.mp3?_=2\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ingerstoejbergspetakelmp3.mp3\">https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ingerstoejbergspetakelmp3.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>The event, \u201cI \u00f8jenh\u00f8jde med Inger St\u00f8jberg\u201d (Eye to Eye with Inger St\u00f8jberg), was organised by Politik og Kommunikation, an association for students studying politics or communication, in order to provide her with an opportunity to speak about political communication. During the protest, she sat unruffled in one of the red reading chairs set up for the event as she waited for the demonstrators to leave the auditorium,<\/p>\n<p>She later took a swipe at the demonstrators, calling their protest an example of bad communication.<\/p>\n<p>The demonstration has touched off a hefty debate in the political-science student Facebook group ‘Statskundskab p\u00e5 K\u00f8benhavn’.<\/p>\n<p>One student\u2019s comment that he was disappointed by those who took part had received 150 likes at the time of writing.<\/p>\n<p>Leif Donb\u00e6k, a solicitor who frequently appears in the media, wrote on Facebook that he felt the disruption was \u201cantidemocratic bullying\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI fear for the coming generation of graduates if this is the limit of the analytical ability and the respect for democracy at our institutes of higher education,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Jon Rostgaard Boiesen, a teaching assistant at Faculty of Law at Aarhus University, replied to Donb\u00e6k\u2019s comment that exercising the right to free speech was in keeping with the spirit of democracy.<\/p>\n<h2>Questions welcome<\/h2>\n<p>Alexander Funch, chair of the university\u2019s chapter of Politik og Kommunikation, described the association as non-partisan, and made it clear that it was not involved with the demonstration.<\/p>\n<p>Politik og Kommunikation regularly organises discussions with lawmakers from all parties. It believes its set-up helps students understand elected officials better.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe respect people\u2019s political points of view, but we hope that our events can be held the way we plan them. There is always time after each conversation to ask questions, and Inger St\u00f8jberg stayed around afterwards. There was plenty of opportunity to engage wither,\u201d Funch says.<\/p>\n<h2>Criticism of activists<\/h2>\n<p>St\u00f8jberg said she respects the students\u2019 right to demonstrate, but felt that disrupting the event was harmful to the democratic process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey didn\u2019t want to hear what I had to say. They didn\u2019t want to debate with me. They wanted to disturb the event, then walk out. But, that\u2019s not the first time that\u2019s happened to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She described the demonstrators as a \u201clame excuse for far-left activists\u201d, and was pleased that their protest failed to stop the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe discussion continued after they left,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The group of students who staged the protest explained their position in a comment submitted to the University Post. A comment that has subsequently deleted as it turns out the <a href=\"https:\/\/uniavisen.dk\/en\/students-behind-stojberg-protest-used-fake-identity\/\">group used a fake identity for their
