The free course, entitled Origins<\/em>, is offered by the University of Copenhagen\u2019s Natural History Museum of Denmark via the online course provider Coursera and covers the origin of everything – from the formation of the Universe itself to the biological and geological processes over time on Earth.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so happy that we were invited to do this course, when I see how well our course has been received, both internationally and from our own students here at the university. We\u2019re proud of what we\u2019ve done.\u201d says Henning Haack, who runs the course.<\/p>\n

Good feedback<\/h2>\n

So far, 41,000 people from 172 different countries have enrolled. The majority of students are between 25 and 35 years old. <\/p>\n

About a quarter of these are actively watching the streamed lectures and taking part in the online forum, which functions as a virtual classroom. At the time of writing, more than 2,000 posts have been made in the course forum already.<\/p>\n

One thread, entitled Teacher and course appreciation thread<\/em> sings Origins<\/em> praises, and several course participants have stated that they had never heard of the University of Copenhagen before, but now dream of coming to Denmark.<\/p>\n
