See the photos","use_post_excerpt":false},{"acf_fc_layout":"Byline","is_author":false,"contributors":[{"use_registered_user":false,"user":false,"contributor_name":"Ida Blinkenberg Lidell","contributor_title":" ","contributor_image":false}]},{"acf_fc_layout":"Content","content":"<p>The Alumni Day 2014 marked the beginning of a new tradition as prorector Thomas Bj\u00f8rnholm announced that the second Alumni Day will take place on October 3rd 2015. <\/p>\n<p>During the afternoon, the alumni listened to top researchers like Eske Willerslev, who talked engagingly about mammoths and DNA. The title: \u201cSex, Violence and State Formations in The Old Testament\u201d drew a crowd to professor in Theology, Anne Gudme. Lars Bangert Struwe from Centre for Military Studies gave the audience a hint of what lies ahead politically as a consequence of Russia\u2019s intervention\/occupation in Ukraine and the terror actions of ISIS.<\/p>\n<p>At the Alumni Day, the university seized the chance to appoint the next Honorary Alumna: Corinna Cortes, who is head of Google Research. She let us in on \u2018big data\u2019 and how to construct Google Translate. See <a href=\"http:\/\/news.ku.dk\/all_news\/2014\/09\/google-director-is-the-new-honorary-alumna-at-the-university-of-copenhagen\/\" target=\"_blank\">the press release <\/a> and the University Post’s <a href=\"http:\/\/universitypost.dk\/article\/big-data-big-challenges-big-hopes\" target=\"_blank\">interview with Corinna Cortes here. <\/a><\/p>\n<h2>See myself here for the next 25 years<\/h2>\n<p>The day ended with a string concert and a banquet in the old Ceremonial Hall. The excellent food was inspired by the University\u2019s \u2018birth\u2019 year, 1479.
