The free and interactive Science in the City festival continues on Monday, and throughout the week at the Carlsberg City district, which is separated into seven areas with interactive exhibits, workshops, and presentations.<\/p>\n

More free Science in the City<\/h2>\n

Beer and the invention of the pH scale<\/strong>
\nIn the Media<\/strong> area, you can interact with Prof. J\u00fcrgen Wendland in a hands-on Q&A session about the pH-scale, which was invented by Dane S\u00f8ren S\u00f8rensen while working at the Carlsberg Laboratory.
\nWhen:<\/strong> 10.00 – 11.00. The event is open to the public.<\/p>\n

Science TV and New Media<\/strong>
\nIn the Engage<\/strong> district, the European Science TV and New Media festival opens its doors. The festival showcases the best use of science in TV, film, and cartoon productions from throughout Europe. You can watch the films and documentaries nominated for awards in the different categories and vote for your favourite.
\nWhen:<\/strong> 10.00-20.00. The event is open to the public.
\nFind the screening schedule here<\/a>. The festival continues on Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Research vessels<\/strong>
\nMonday is the last day the large research vessels are docked at Amaliehaven \/ Larsens Plads in central Copenhagen. If you don’t have the time to head all the way to the Carsberg City, you can instead take a tour of the Danish research vessels Dana<\/em> and Aurora<\/em> (Denmarks largest research vessel), or Swedish ice-breaker Oden<\/em>.
\nWhen:<\/strong> Open ship from 10.00 – 18.00. The event is open to the public.<\/p>\n

Keynote lecture by Serge Haroche<\/h2>\n

Quantum physicist Serge Haroche will be giving a keynote lecture on ‘Controlling single photons in a box: a long scientific adventure’. Haroche is the director of the Coll\u00e8ge de France and co-winner of the 2012 Nobel Prize for Physics,<\/p>\n

Conference registration is necessary to attend. Day tickets for the conference are available at 150\u20ac (students: 50\u20ac). You can register here<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The festival continues on Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research vessels<\/strong><br \/>\nMonday is the last day the large research vessels are docked at Amaliehaven \/ Larsens Plads in central Copenhagen. If you don’t have the time to head all the way to the Carsberg City, you can instead take a tour of the Danish research vessels <em>Dana<\/em> and <em>Aurora<\/em> (Denmarks largest research vessel), or Swedish ice-breaker <em>Oden<\/em>.<br \/>\n<strong>When:<\/strong> Open ship from 10.00 – 18.00. The event is open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>See the photos from Saturday’s Science in the City events <a href=\"node\/25512\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Keynote lecture by Serge Haroche<\/h2>\n<p>Quantum physicist Serge Haroche will be giving a keynote lecture on ‘Controlling single photons in a box: a long scientific adventure’. Haroche is the director of the Coll\u00e8ge de France and co-winner of the 2012 Nobel Prize for Physics,<\/p>\n<p>Conference registration is necessary to attend. Day tickets for the conference are available at 150\u20ac (students: 50\u20ac).
