The university has already leased the Roskilde Festival’s massive tents for the Spring Festival, and they have now also confirmed some of their big performers. Organisers have projected between 8,000 and 12,000 guests as their goal for this first festival, which they hope will start a tradition.<\/p>\n

Indeed, the selection of music acts promises to transform the event into the University of Copenhagen’s (UCPH) own little Roskilde Festival.<\/p>\n

The full event lineup has been released, and includes sports, arts, science, and lots of music over three large stages in Universitetsparken in North Campus. The three stages are called Totem, Frekvens, and Bj\u00f8rnholm. The event begins at 15.00 on Friday, 9 May, and the party continues into the night.<\/p>\n

Ginger ninja<\/h2>\n

The festival kicks off with a welcome by Rector Ralf Hemmingsen, right before the first big musical performance, Ginger Ninja, at Totem stage. This danish pop-rock group just played the Tivoli stage last week to promote their newest album, titled Excess Space.<\/p>\n

Extreme foosball<\/h2>\n

Throughout the month of April, teams from each faculty have been battling it out on campuses around the city. The final competitors are now set, and at 15.30 on Idr\u00e6tsplads the ultimate foosball champions of UCPH will be determined.<\/p>\n

Play by play commentary will be provided by Prorector Lykke Friis, and, in support of North Campus’ scientific interets, players will be connected to heart rate monitors during the matches.<\/p>\n

This competition could get intense!<\/p>\n

Luck, laughs, and cocktails<\/h2>\n

Copenhagen Science Slam follows at 15.30 at Frekvens stage, with the winner getting a free ticket to the actual Roskilde festival! Every UCPH student is free to share their passion, get on stage and give an 8 minute pitch on their favourite aspect of science. Those interested should send their ideas to mvj@unf.dk.<\/p>\n

More science will be served afterwards, as the popular Science & Cocktails event makes an appearance at 17.00 at Frekvens stage, with the theme of luck.This will be hosted by renowned psychologist Richard Wiseman, from Hertfordshire University, an expert on belief systems, the paranormal, and what it really means to get lucky<\/em>. <\/p>\n

He is also a professional magician, and will no doubt have some tricks up his sleeve for his performance. As always with these events, cocktails will be served! Also at 17.00, there will be a sketch-comedy performance at Totem stage.<\/p>\n

Follow the music<\/h2>\n

From 18.00 onwards, the music begins in earnest, and performers across the three stages will be blending the academic side with rhythm and beat.<\/p>\n

The full music program, and the artists’ bios can be found on UCPH’s Spring Festival site. Some artists are playing across different stages at the same time, so check them out before arriving, so you catch all the best acts. <\/p>\n

The UCPH choir and American DJ Reeact will start off the night, followed by \u00d8stkyst Hustlers, Tue Track, Ponyblod og Marvelous Morsell, and MIBB. At 22.00 Den Sorte Skole, Pligten Kalder, and Linkoban will be playing, and the party will be finished off with 00.15-2.00am sets by Analogik, Spektors, Terkel N\u00f8rgaard Trio ft. L\u00f8vdal & JKA.<\/p>\n

This danish pop-rock group just played the Tivoli stage last week to promote their newest album, titled Excess Space.<\/p>\n<p>You may recognize their hit song, Sunshine, from the world football championships a few years ago. The final competitors are now set, and at 15.30 on Idr\u00e6tsplads the ultimate foosball champions of UCPH will be determined.<\/p>\n<p>Play by play commentary will be provided by Prorector Lykke Friis, and, in support of North Campus’ scientific interets, players will be connected to heart rate monitors during the matches.<\/p>\n<p>This competition could get intense!<\/p>\n<p>Read <a href=\"http:\/\/universitypost.dk\/article\/comment-breaking-down-barriers-spring-festival\" target=\"_blank\">Comment: Breaking down barriers at the Spring Festival<\/a> .<\/p>\n<h2>Luck, laughs, and cocktails<\/h2>\n<p>Copenhagen Science Slam follows at 15.30 at Frekvens stage, with the winner getting a free ticket to the actual Roskilde festival! Every UCPH student is free to share their passion, get on stage and give an 8 minute pitch on their favourite aspect of science. Those interested should send their ideas to mvj@unf.dk.<\/p>\n<p>More science will be served afterwards, as the popular Science & Cocktails event makes an appearance at 17.00 at Frekvens stage, with the theme of luck.This will be hosted by renowned psychologist Richard Wiseman, from Hertfordshire University, an expert on belief systems, the paranormal, and what it really means to <em>get lucky<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>He is also a professional magician, and will no doubt have some tricks up his sleeve for his performance. As always with these events, cocktails will be served! Also at 17.00, there will be a sketch-comedy performance at Totem stage.<\/p>\n<h2>Follow the music<\/h2>\n<p>From 18.00 onwards, the music begins in earnest, and performers across the three stages will be blending the academic side with rhythm and beat.<\/p>\n<p>The full music program, and the artists’ bios can be found on UCPH’s Spring Festival site. Some artists are playing across different stages at the same time, so check them out before arriving, so you catch all the best acts. <\/p>\n<p>The UCPH choir and American DJ Reeact will start off the night, followed by \u00d8stkyst Hustlers, Tue Track, Ponyblod og Marvelous Morsell, and MIBB. At 22.00 Den Sorte Skole, Pligten Kalder, and Linkoban will be playing, and the party will be finished off with 00.15-2.00am sets by Analogik, Spektors, Terkel N\u00f8rgaard Trio ft.
