As the new rector of the University of Copenhagen, David Dreyer Lassen must balance internal tensions, external pressures, and society’s expectations of the university. A difficult art—but he is ready for the task.
The new rector has been selected from the University of Copenhagen’s own ranks. It will be the current Prorector for Research David Dreyer Lassen, who will take over the chain of office from 1 March 2025.
Prorector David Dreyer Lassen says science communication is of the utmost importance for UCPH. Dissemination of research results is a parameter that is considered when employing or promoting researchers.
Communicating research results to the public is important, but it is not specified in researchers’ contracts, so they are forced to do it in their spare time, three researchers say.
Should the so-called Chicago principles be inscribed in Danish university legislation? Or are Danish universities actually just fine the way they are now? Academic freedom was discussed once again in the Danish parliament on 3 May.
