By her side were bodyguards, minister of Education Morten Østergaard, Dean Ralf Hemmingsen and other university VIPs. The Crown Princess was also responsible for presenting the 2012 ‘Prize for Science Communication’ [‘Forskningskommunikationsprisen’, ed.] at a closed reception.

The Day of Research [‘Forskningens Døgn’, ed.] has been held since 2005 and is organized by The Ministry of Education. HRH Crown Princess Mary is protector of ‘The Day of Research’. This year the University of Copenhagen is co-host of the event.

The event lasts three days and is open for everyone. Vor Frue Plads will be packed with scientific booths sharing the latest buzz in Danish research today. When royalty are not present, sheep, liquid Nitrogen, stones and microscopes are among the many curiosities that will catch visitors’ attention.
