University of Copenhagen, founded in 1479, celebrates itself with traditions, awards and opera
The annual Commemoration is one of the largest celebrations at the University of Copenhagen and will be webcasted live on the University of Copenhagen’s website here from 13.45 til 16.00.
In the afternoon, the university elite (invited guests) will gather at the Celebration hall. Here awards will be handed out to the most outstanding students and researchers.
Hotly contested awards will be announced for the best International Study Environment award, the Harald award for best teaching, and the award for innovation.
Prince Henrik, husband of Danish Queen Margrethe, will be there.
It has just been announced that the Harald award for best teaching will be given to a Professor in Ecclesiastical history Mette Birkedal Bruun.
Later in the evening, the party moves to the Royal Opera House where the opera Madame Butterfly by Puccini will be performed to a host of Danish, and University of Copenhagen, celebs. This event starts at 19.30.
Be sure to check out the live webcast on the University of Copenhagen’s website here from 13.45 til 16.00, and of course our subsequent reporting on the University Post.
