If the fire and safety authorities had a say in it, they would have closed down the party. Connie Hedegaard handed over the post as Minister of Climate and Energy to the University of Copenhagen's Prorector in a jam-packed Climate Ministry canteen
It is big news, when minister’s swap seats. And it steals all the headlines when the government ministerial post in play also happens to be on the top of the political agenda.
A ministerial offer to Prorector Lykke Friis came in at 9 pm last night Monday.

»I was lying on the sofa, and was going through the U of C budget with my little dog Winston, when the phone rang,« she explained to a packed Climate Ministry canteen. Staff and journalists had assembled to watch the ministerial hand-over from Connie Hedegaard, who is now to be EU Commissioner.
Earlier she explained to news agency Ritzau that »climate- and energy policy is the foreign and security policy of the future.«
»In the last many conferences which I have taken part in, climate policy has been the most important subject. At the University of Copenhagen we have put alot of effort into the climate area, and I have had the pleasure of meeting some of the biggest climate experts over the course of the last couple of years,« she said.
Lykke Friis has a Ph.D. in international politics from the University of Copenhagen.
