Don't forget to block off Friday 23 May for the university’s big annual bash
It will be peak springtime on 23 May when your university fences off its North Campus lawns and sets up the venue for its annual festival for the entire University of Copenhagen (UCPH).
This year, the KU Festival marks the 150th anniversary of women being granted access to a university education in Denmark. So the audience can look forward to a musical line-up with women in the spotlight.
The headline act is Medina, who performs at 18:00. Other announced artists include AySay, Prisma, and DJ Fedty. The programme is continuously updated on the festival website with the next musical act to be revealed on 10 April.
This year’s festival will be bigger than ever: Two music stages and four tents offer a varied programme from 14:00 — when the festival grounds open — until late into the night. This year, stages and tents are named after prominent female UCPH figures from history, including geoscientist Inge Lehmann, zoologist Marie Hammer, and physician Nielsine Nielsen.
IF YOU Want to volunteer
Each year, more than 300 staff and students help make it all happen by taking on a 3–4 hour shift at the entrance or the bar. You choose your own tasks and timeslot — and get food and drink tickets as thanks for your efforts.

There’s something for everyone at the UCPH Festival. For those not into stadium music, there’s a sports programme, and talks in both Danish and English where bright minds from throughout the university tackle current topics.
This year’s focus is especially on underrepresented agendas and diversity.
The festival is free for students and staff — just remember your UCPH ID card, as it is your ticket. The UCPH Festival is a non-profit collaboration between the University of Copenhagen, the Student Council at UCPH, and byStudents.
