Demo action planned against library closures

As five social science department libraries are threatened with closure, students prepare to protest

Students in the CSS are outraged that their Faculty is planning on closing down their library, as well as four others. Now they are responding.

Students feel that they were not included in the decision making process and they are hoping to make their voices heard.

A protest, which is to start at 14:00 on Monday 30 May, coincides with an academic council meeting to determine the fate of the libraries. This meeting will also include student representatives from the faculty.

Feeling left out

Those organizing the event have spread the word on Facebook. On their group page, called ‘Demonstration mod lukning af institutbiblioteker på CSS!!’, they call for their fellow students support:

»We are starting to mobilize students from the Faculty of Social Science primarily to congregate and protest the closure of our departmental libraries, but also to demonstrate the fact that the decision was made behind our backs.…Spread the word on!,« it states on the Facebook page.

So far, 69 students plan to attend the event held at Gothersgade 140.
