Medvedev visit, finally with a photo

University Post paparazzi captured the fleeting visit of a Russian president last week

Russian president Dmitry Medvedev was in Copenhagen last week for a lightning visit. So fast that almost no one saw him in town.

Even the University Post was wrong-footed Wednesday, and couldn’t get a security pass in time to cover his passage closer.

Little did we know, but our photographer happened to be near the Tivoli gardens, and saw a nice looking old lady escorted by a sharp young man with a bunch of security-guard-looking people running after him. Going through her photos, she realised what she had.

Sustainable back in the tundra

»See you in Siberia!«

This was how the Russian President said his farewells to Rector Ralf Hemmingsen and other University of Copenhagen representatives as he left the official visit to the Green Lighthouse eco-project. So writes the Rector on his blog on the University of Copenhagen website.

»But it was not meant as a Stalinist-style threat,« writes Ralf Hemmingsen.

»The president was impressed by the building and was ready to order ones like it for Siberia. This quickly set off a worried question from one of his officials. ‘What’s the price?’« Ralf Hemmingsen writes.

»We assured him, that it can pay to build sustainably«.
