DANISH NEWS - Forbes has just released its list of the world's dollar billionaires for 2013. Six Danes make the cut
Six Danes are on this year’s Forbes list of billionaires, an annual ranking of the world’s wealthiest people compiled and published by American national business magazine Forbes, writes seven59.dk.
According to Forbes, there are 1,426 dollar billionaires throughout the world and the highest ranked Dane, at no. 158, is Lego owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen with a personal wealth of USD 7.3bn. Bedding king Lars Larsen of Jyske Sengetøjslager is next at no. 363 with USD 3.7bn, followed by Anders Holch Poulsen of clothing company Bestseller, at no.589 with USD 2.5bn.
The fourth-highest ranking Dane is Niles Peter Louis-Hansen of medical devices giant Coloplast, with USD 2.4bn, while the only female Dane on the list, Hanni Toosbuy Kasprzal, owner and CEO of Ecco Shoes, is at no. 974 with a modest USD 1.5bn. The sixth-richest Dane, and no 1,268 in the world, is Bent Jensen, owner of Linak, with USD 1.1bn.
Denmark matches Norway, which can also boast of six dollar billionaires, but both are a long way behind Sweden which provides home for fourteen.
And the world’s richest person? It is still the Mexican Carlos Slim with USD 73bn, followed by Microsoft’s Bill Gates with USD 67bn.
