Twas a warmer winter long ago

Last year's mild autumn looks picturesque compared to the icy remains of November 2010

Today marks the beginning of December, the winter month. Yet as internationals from warmer climates slip on the snow packed down from last month, and Danes gravel at the relatively chilly November they endured, it appears that winter is already upon Copenhagen.

Last year, our photographer Lizette Kabré recorded the start of Advent, a widely celebrated period of time in Christmas-crazed Denmark, by taking pictures of campus buildings at night. The pictures document a mild December – one that seems like a tropical vacation compared to the frosty beginnings of this year’s winter.
