Do-it-yourself biology at the Medical Museion

Biohacking is a global movement that hopes to set free the biotechnology research that is normally performed in university and companies.

The movement wants it to be made available for everyone. This is the underlying idea behind the Medical Museion’s biohacking laboratory, which opened Thursday.

Inspire for bio experiments at home

The space at the museum is not a simple exhibition that allows visitors to get familiar with ‘biohacked’ technologies, it goes even further: It is also a working space, where the visitors can see how the biohackers work and they can even became biohackers themselves.

As assistant professor Louise Whiteley of the Medical Museion explained at the opening.

»It tries to inspire people to continue with these experiments at school, work or at home.«

Workshops

Workshops will be held in February in the exhibition space.
