ESOF Preview: What to see on Sunday 22 June

A bra that turns into a face mask, a panel on the future of the Humanities, and the official opening by Queen Margrethe. Check out our recommendations for what to see at the Science in the City festival and the ESOF conference

The free and interactive science festival continues on Sunday, and throughout the week at the Carlsberg City district, which is separated into seven areas with interactive exhibits, workshops, and presentations.

More free Science in the City

In the Media tent, there will be scientific presentations and debates all day. The ‘role of humanities in strategic science’ will be discussed, with Professor of Semiotics Frederik Stjernfelt, Professor of Formal Philosophy Vincent Hendricks, and Associate Dean of the Humanities Faculty, Julie Sommerlund.
When: 18.00 – 19.00. The event is open to the public.

In the Rethink area, you will get a chance to see the Ig Nobel Prize event, which celebrates scientists with wacky ideas, like winner Dr. Kees Moelliker, who was the first man ever to scientifically report on homosexual necrophilia in ducks and Dr. Elena Bodnar, who invented a bra that can be converted into a face mask. You can check out our article about the previous Ig Nobel Prize event, here.
When: 19.00 – 21.00. The event is open to the public.
You can see the show once again on Tuesday 24 June from 19 – 21

In the Wonder district, you can learn about the craft and science behind making quality Carlsberg beer. After completing all six stages, you will get to sample the results and get a free beer!
When: 10.00 – 19.00. The event is open to the public.

Also in the Wonder section, you can try a hand-held ultrasound machine. You can look at your heart or bladder, and learn about the history of ultrasound machines.
When: 12.00 – 18.00. The event is open to the public.
