Gamers prepare for tournament

79 computer scientists are getting ready for 72 hours of gaming

This year’s DIKULAN event, the 72-hour non-stop extravaganza for computer gamers, is already sold out, say organisers to the University Post.

Fellow gamers are right now in the process of packing up their gear, mentally preparing to participate in the DIKULAN Winter 2012 Tournament, the first of two tournaments, held this weekend at the Department of Computer Science DIKU.

»It’s about being together with your friends and having fun while playing video games in all forms.
You meet people who love the same old games as you or people who play the same games you do every day,« says Nicki Andersen, who has been organizing the event for three years.«

Action, sports, driving

Events include the Secret Tournament #1, Soul Calibur 1v1 and the much anticipated Robot Unicorn Attack, say organisers

A variety of games will be played, ranging from action games, to sport games, to driving games.

Sponsors this year include Red Bull and SteelSeries Professional Gaming Gear. There is free Red Bull for all participants and a chance to win a SteelSeries KANA mouse and mouse pads, and other prizes to be won in the events.

Twice a year

Although this year’s event is sold-out, DIKULAN is a bi-annual event so check out the site here for information on upcoming events.
