Health professor withdraws from Novo fund

In the latest spin-off from the Penkowa fraud case, Professor Bente Klarlund Pedersen steps down from her position in the largest Danish private research fund

Professor Bente Klarlund Pedersen of the Faculty of Health Science has withdrawn from the Novo Nordisk Foundation research fund. This is while her own research is being investigated for scientific dishonesty in connection with the Penkowa fraud case. This is according to Danish newspaper BT.

It is the latest fallout in a complex of cases surrounding the Milena Penkowa fraud scandal.

Bente Klarlund, a well-known and recognised scientist in the area of sports science, was recently forced to withdraw from the editorship of the international journals, »Journal of Physiology« and »Experimental Physiology« after it turned out photos had been re-used in different experiments.

Cites personal reasons

To BT, Bente Klarlund Pedersen says that »I have withdrawn from the fund as long as the case is ongoing, and I have done it for personal reasons«.

Klarlund Pedersen has been consultant to the Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen when he was Minister of Health, and former Minister of Science Helge Sander.
