One half of all places on master's degree programmes at Danish universities should be for shorter one-year programmes oriented towards the labour market, with more continuing education opportunities. This is the government’s new reform proposal.
Minister for Higher Education and Science Jesper Petersen praises the University of Copenhagen for its plan to set up a medical degree programme in Køge and for using graduate unemployment numbers to cut student places. He would have been happier, however, if the university had presented plans to relocate more student places.
The former political spokesman for the Social Democratic Party replaces Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen, who is to be Minister of Culture.
