DANISH NEWS - Controversial asylum bill was headline news on the websites of leading international media throughout Tuesday
US news outlets CNN, NBC, and newspapers the Washington Post and New York Times reported how Danish lawmakers voted Tuesday in favour of controversial legislation empowering authorities to seize cash and valuables from asylum seekers to help cover their expenses. This is according to Seven59.dk and other media.
The British Independent tweeted that ‘Denmark can now legally search refugees and seize their money and jewellery’, while the BBC reported how ‘The Danish parliament has backed a controversial proposal to confiscate asylum seekers’ valuables to pay for their upkeep.’
