University of Copenhagen anthropologists behind 'Shelter from the Storm' project
The latest web documentary from the ‘Ethnographic Exploratory’ group is all about homes and homeliness, according to Professor Perle Møhl of the Department of Anthropology UCPH who is also a filmmaker.
Web docs are documentaries, which have a form and approach to storytelling that are interactive, non-linear, and plural.
“This project is about finding shelters from the storm. It contains a juxtaposition of versions and experiences of homeliness in very different spaces and phenomena. There are two aims to it: pedagogical and communicative. The WebDoc enables the combination of different media in anthropological research – both as a method and for dissemination,” she explains.
The web documentary was made by participants in the University of Copenhagen courses Visual Anthropology in Practice and Visual Methods. Two previous projects – ”City Animals and ”Ritual Rhythms” can be found here.
The WebDoc launch will take place on the Campus for Social Sciences (CSS), room 4.1.12 Thursday 24 September at 15.30. You can find the Facebook event here.
