Political Science hires new boss

Lars Bo Kaspersen, a department head at the Copenhagen Business School, is now to lead the Department of Political Science

Political scientist and sociologist Lars Bo Kaspersen has just been appointed new head of the Department of Political Science. This is according to a release from the Faculty of Social Sciences.

He succeeds Lars Bille, who has been Head of Department since 2002.

49 year-old Kaspersen leaves his present post as Head of the Department of Business at the Copenhagen Business School (CBS).

Interested in state theory, markets

Lars Bo Kaspersen is professor, PhD in political science and graduate in sociology. He is a former student of and employee at the Faculty of Social Sciences, and has also worked for Aarhus University.

According to the release, his main areas of interest are state theory, state-market relations and comparative political economy from a critical perspective.

Dean Troels Østergaard Sørensen reckons that the Department of Political Science will flourish with Lars Bo Kaspersen in the driver’s seat.

Faculty wants to be international leader

»He has gained a broad level of experience at other institutions, both nationally and internationally, and will develop the Department’s international profile,« he says,

He adds that »this is completely in line with the Faculty’s ambition to be an internationally leading academic environment within social sciences«.
