Prorector Lykke Friis now a government minister

University of Copenhagen's Lykke Friis gets top government post

Prorector of the University of Copenhagen, Lykke Friis, is to be the new Minister of Climate and Energy, replacing former minister Connie Hedegaard, who is going to be EU Commissioner in Brussels.

The Lykke Friis appointment is according to a brief statement from the Danish government.

She will be appointed at 13:00 this afternoon. The University Post will cover this event.

In her new position, Lykke Friis will be playing a key role in COP-15, the UN’s Climate Conference in Copenhagen this December. Connie Hedegaard will continue as minister for the actual conference event.

It still is not known who will be replacing Friis as Prorector at the university.
