Protect your bike from thieves

1,200 traceable bike chips to be dished out at the university Wednesday

Come to University of Copenhagen’s Amager Campus, Njalsgade 80, tomorrow Wednesday at 3pm to snap up one of 1,200 free bike chips, which can show the authorities where your bike is, should it fall foul of long-fingered crooks.

With an average of 8 bicycles stolen every hour in Denmark, according to dst.dk, there is no time like the present to protect your trusty bike.

The chips will be distributed as part of a trial project by the Municipality of Copenhagen, who have already given away 3,800 of the chips.

Bring your bike and win

Just come along with your bike, and sign up with your name and email address and your bike will be protected until the trail ends in May 2010.

As if that was not enough, the municipality is offering a prize of a brand new bike to one of the lucky chip-owners. The winner will be drawn at random from all participants.
