Pay — See which programmes lead to the highest salaries (10 years after finishing university).
7,215 new bachelor students will be welcomed to the University of Copenhagen in 2024.
How did the young people decide what to study?
WHat is ON THIS LIST?
The data for this list is extracted from uddannelseszoom.dk.
Salary data is from Statistics Denmark.
Some degrees are not on the list, including all bachelor’s degrees. This is because most students in Denmark continue to their master’s degree, and so the Danish Ministry for Education and Science’s portal does not show salary statistics for them.
On our own ranking, based on the uddannelseszoom data, we have also opted to not include any degree programme where the number of survey responses was fewer than 10. This is to avoid salary numbers on one degree being skewed by the salary of just a few individuals.
An analysis from the Danish Evaluation Institute (EVA) in 2021 showed that 62 per cent of future Danish students at that time placed a ‘high’ or ‘very high’ value on getting a job where they can make a positive difference.
When I was young I thought money was the most important thing in life, now that I’m old – I know it is!
Oscar Wilde
Most of the students stated that they chose their degree programme by academic interest (88 per cent) or the possibility of an exciting job (85 per cent).
Only 24 per cent were motivated by the possibility of a high income.
Maybe every fourth student had read the Irish playwright Oscar Wilde, who put it this way: »When I was young I thought money was the most important thing in life, now that I’m old – I know it is!«
Either way, here is an overview for them, and for their curious fellow students.
So we have crunched the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) data for you. Which programmes lead to the highest wages?
The statistics are extracted from the Danish Ministry for Education and Science’s portal uddannelseszoom.dk. Its underlying numbers come from Statistics Denmark and a large-scale questionnaire sent to all graduates called Danmarks Studieundersøgelse, with the latest numbers being uploaded recently.
The ranking below shows monthly salary (including pension) ten years after completion of the master’s degree programme.
