Things are moving in the right direction for the quality of PhDs in Denmark. This is according to supervisors and a group of international reviewers who took part in a large study of the PhD programmes’ quality and relevance.
120,000 students and recent graduates from across the country have rated the quality of their education. Teachers at the University of Copenhagen get top marks, but on other measurements UCPH is in the middle of the Danish university field.
The University of Copenhagen does not often enough check whether individual study programs are research-based, according to an assessment from a panel of experts. This means that UCPH only receives a slightly pleased smiley and possibly two years of government control rather than the freedom to establish new study programs.
