The University Post is looking for student reporters

The University Post is looking for talented writers and photographers for our network of student reporters.

Are you a good writer? A good photographer? Do you want to get even better and get feedback and work-experience?

Then join us in September when we recruit new members to our network of student reporters who contribute to the University Post with news, features, guides, portraits, science journalism, etc.

Denmark’s leading university site

The University Post is the University of Copenhagen’s independent, critical and award winning media for students and staff. We are published every day on uniavisen.dk – in Danish and in English – and have about 100,000 unique visitors a month.

Six times a year, we also publish a printed magazine, which is distributed throughout the entire University of Copenhagen.

We are looking for students from any of the University of Copenhagen’s many programmes – and you do not need to have 10 years of experience from your school newspaper to take part. As long as you have the raw talent and energy – and as long as you want to contribute and learn – you will benefit from writing or taking pictures for the University Post.

This is what you get as a student reporter:

• A large network of talented Danish and international students from UCPH
• Basic courses in journalistic genres, news values, writing techniques, photos, ethics and more
• Lectures from skilled journalists and photographers from the real (media) world
• Feedback from a professional newsroom
• A small fee when we publish your work
• A large network of talented Danish and international students from UCPH

Your qualifications

• Most important: You love to write (and / or take pictures)
• You are not afraid to talk to strangers
• You are good at research
• You are good at getting new ideas
• You study at the University of Copenhagen
• You can attend an editorial meeting once a month

Deadline

Send an email to uni-avis@adm.ku.dk with 1) your resume, 2) a short one half-page cover letter explaining why you would like to work with us and 3) an example of something you have written . Deadline is Friday 31st August at 12.00.

After deadline we will call in the most promising candidates for short, individual interviews, which will take place in the following week. We will then select the candidates for the network.

Information meeting

There will be an information meeting for potential new student reporters on Monday 27th August at 17.00-18.00 at St. Kannikestræde 18, inner court annex. Write an email to uni-avis@adm.ku.dk if you plan to come – just so we know how many cakes to buy.

You are also welcome to contact student reporter Liv Rossander if you have any questions (email: liv.rossander@adm.ku.dk, tel: + 45 21 37 97 82)
