New students at the University of Copenhagen will get the chance to shake hands with the head of the university and meet their fellow students at the official matriculation ceremony today Friday
This Friday 29 August at 15.00, the Rector is to officially welcome the new students to the University of Copenhagen.
The official part of the event will feature a welcome speech by Rector Ralf Hemmingsen and musical performances by the student choir and the student big band.
The event is expected to last about half an hour and after that, all newly matriculated students will get the chance to shake hands with the rector, before heading out into the Lindegården.
In the courtyard, the attendees can then enjoy beers and hotdogs, before heading over to the matriculation party at Studenterhuset, with live music and cheap beer (in 2013, 3000 people attended).
Last year, university management decided to merge the matriculation ceremonies that had previously been separate for Danish and international students.
